Probably should be in the Random or series discussion forum, not the general anime forum, just fyi.

Anywho, I've dated a couple girls that were insanely into Astrology and Tarot and stuff like that. To me it's interesting just like reading about fictional universes is interesting. The way it's organized is curious and sometimes cool, but I wouldn't actually ever believe any of it is real. That said, I am actually fairly close to what they generally describe a stereotypical Scorpio to be which is usually:
Intense, Powerful, Tenacious, Emotional, Calm but seething, Secretive, Deep/profound, Passionate, Loyal, Ambitious, Extreme, Willful/fanatical, Mysterious/magnetic, Deeply resentful/brooding/potentially destructive, Cunning, Outspoken, Can be unforgiving, Highly Sexual.
The funny thing is that they usually throw out so many traits that almost everyone will find at least 1/2 of them apply to themselves. The only ones on my list that I think don't really fit me are the calm but seething and unforgiving things though, so most of them are fairly accurate, at least that's what one of my X's told me. She did my whole chart and everything on my exact birth time once, I wonder if I still have it around somewhere.

I remember reading something from my moms college book for psychology, there was a chapter about horoscopes and stuff, and I really like how they worded it. Unfortunally it's in a back room with no lighting, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow.
I'm a Pisces, however. My horoscope pretty much fits me to a T, but like ultenth says... they list so much that it can pretty much relate to anyone.
Pisces, symbolized by the Fish, is a Mutable Water sign ruled by Jupiter and Neptune. Compassionate, caring and giving, Pisceans love to help others and do well when they have a cause to champion. Their gentle, self-sacrificing nature makes it easy for others to take advantage of them. Like other Water signs, they are emotional and feel things deeply, including other people’s pain. Pisces are sensitive and intuitive to the point of being almost psychic. They are kind, pleasant, personable, and easy-going. They often feel misunderstood which can cause them to become melancholy. Pisces are also spiritual and introspective, placing much focus on their own inner journey. Neptune’s influence gives Pisces a dreamy quality. They are creative, artistic, imaginative, but at times have difficulty distinguishing fantasy from reality – dreamers.
The only thing I don't really have is distinguishing fantasy from reality. I'm not a wishy washy type. I'm the type that sets out to do something and if I say I'm gonna do something - I'm gonna do it. Also I'm not very self sacrificing anymore ;p When I was younger I was more timid, but I think I grew a back bone and can stand up for myself now if I need to. But eh.
I'll post later to what Psychology feels about horoscopes

What always cracks me up is people do the whole compatability thing with their signs. But for the real astrological compatability you need to do a complete chart and go into all sorts of stuff, just doing it by signs isn't even close to enough. There are tons of conflicting views within it though, it's all sorts of crazyness.

Yea ;p I should read a passage from my moms 'the only horoscope book you'll ever need' There's all sorts of capability.
I like what my sign represents, but I wouldn't ever read my horoscope daily to see what my day will look like. Besides, I like my symbol - that's about it really.

Heh, I always tend to date people that my zodiac sign really conflicts with, maybe that's why all my relationships are crazy, I date far too many Aries' it seems, which are supposedly like my worst match for long term relationships (but a plus side is they are one of the best matches sexually). And yeah, I like my sign too, I actually have a silver coin pendant with my Zodiac sign stamped on one sign and my totem (the Raven) on the other, I got it as a present from an X, and it's probably one of my favorite gifts I've ever gotten.

Here's what I wanted to post, this is straight out of my moms text book for psychology:
And just for shits and giggles I got out my moms "The only Astrology book you'll ever need"
Let's take a look at compatibility shall we?
We'll do Moses and I since he doesn't really know about his Capricorn likeness. (Neither do I really)
 The stability that I need. Woohoo. Nothx, I'm good being single, but hey least we know now that we're compatible.
Problems with the stars:
Astrology is probably the most popular pseudopsychology. Astrology holds that the positions of the stars and planets at the time of one's birth determine personality traits and affect behavior. Like other pseudopsychologies, astrology has repeatedly been shown to have no scientific validity. (Kelly, 1998, 1997; Stewart, 1996). The objections to astrology are numerous and devastating.
[list]1. The zodiac has shifted in the sky by one full constellation since astrology was first set up. However, most astrologers simply ignore this shift. (In other words, if astrology calls you a Scorpio you are really a Libra, and so forth.)
2.There is no connection between the "compatibility" of couples' astrological signs and their marriage and divorce rates.
3. Studies have found no connection between astrological signs and leadership, physical characteristics, career choices, or personality traits.
4. Astrologers have failed to explain why the moment of birth should be more important than the moment of conception.
5. A study of more then 3,000 predictions by famous astrologers found that only a small percentage were fulfilled. These "Successful" predictions tended to be vague ("There will be a tragedy somewhere in the east in the spring") or easily guessed from current events.
6. If astrologers are asked to match people with their horoscopes, they do no better than would be expected by chance (Kelly, 1999).
7. A few astrologers have tried to test astrology. Their results have been just as negative as those obtained by critics. (Sources: Kelly, 1998, 1999; Martens & Trachet, 1998; Stewart, 1996.)[/list:u]
In short, astrology doesn't work.
Then why does astrology often seem to work? The following discussion tells why.
Uncritical Acceptance:
If you have ever had your astrological chart done, you may have been impressed with its apparent accuracy. However, such perceptions are typically based on uncritical acceptance (the tendency to believe positive or flattering descriptions of yourself.) Many astrological charts are made up of mostly flattering traits. Naturally, when your personality is described in desirable terms, it is hard to deny that the description has the "ring of truth." How much acceptance would astrology receive if a birth sign read like this:
Virgo: You are a logical type and hate disorder. Your nitpicking is unbearable to your friends. You are cold, unemotional, and usually fall asleep while making love. Virgos make good doorsteps.

Capricorn and Pisces:
Capricorn provides a ballast for Pisces's drifting dreaminess and supplies the stability that Pisces needs and admires. And there's nothing Capricorn likes better than being admired. Capricorn is the boudoir captain, but Pisces is a willing crew. Pisces's taste for the bizarre may even influence Capricorn's conventional passions. Pisces's generous affections and Capricorn's strong sense of loyalty combine to make each feel safe and protected. These very different people meet each other's needs.
