I have seen the light

Long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, there was this guy who hated pedophiles, because he was once raped by one.
He held prejudice for many years, until some old lady opened up his eyes - they're just people, just like you. Slapping a label on people because of what they like is wrong, she said.
He began to turn his life around, doing volunteer work, and apologizing to those he'd wronged in the past, and getting to know that not all pedophiles were bad people, and not all of the people who he thought were pedophiles were even pedophiles, and weren't even attracted to children.
This increased the guy's faith in humanity, and so he began trying to find good in all people, even if at first glance they might appear to be bad people. In the end, he was the wicked one for judging all others so hastily, and he was the one who needed to repent.
Truthfully, this was probably why the guy had few friends, and even the few he had chose to hang out with other people before him. He needed to change more. Become a better person, who could understand others, regardless of their beliefs or interests. He turned to the few willing people he'd wronged, and asked them to help him overcome his stigmas toward certain kinds of beliefs or interests.
He overcame these by having regular conversations with these people, and by taking an interest in their personal lives. It wasn't easy, and many times he was repulsed, and sometimes disgusted, but he learned to cope with and understand other ways of thinking and began to become able to not discriminate based on these things.
The story continues, to this day...

Just because someone doesn't have agency over certain parts of their life and their mental diseases doesn't mean they shouldn't be held responsible for their actions and not seeking help. Raping a child—anybody—is a deplorable act and to an extent they do deserve harsh judgement. But being so conceited and hate-filled you never forgive someone for something they didn't have total control over is also pretty deplorable, you're a good person for being able to do so and trying to get over your past misconceptions. Cheers to you mate.
