I think I killed my HDD

I got my foot caught in the cable of my external harddrive and now it doesn't show up, I think I killed it. It over 600gb of downloads since December on it and was expensive. T_T

Last time it was a laptop I broke.

You may have just fucked up the cable, did you try a different one?

This is the fatal flaw with USB harddrives, USB dies..then your files are nearly inaccessible..anyway the big question is, what cable did you trip on, the power, or the data? Either way is it one of the usb cables that you can plug in and out of the harddrive or is it built onto it?

If the earlier, check the port on the harddrive itself, is the usb harddrive even getting power? There are a lot of things to consider before you can proceed...

I think it was both cables, the usb cable plugs into the harddrive.

Both cables? That's a pretty wild claim, Simply because knowing the data isn't working can't be done without the power...so then it could just be the power, or if you get power then you can assume its the data.

Does it get power from USB as well? First thing to do is see if it's getting power or not...

That sucks bro... Thats why I keep my shit on high up places, or just hidden from my eyes.

Open up the enclosure and put the hard drive in your comp and try it out. Or if thats impossible, buy a new enclosure. If your hard drive really is dead you can just put a new one in that enclosure you bought.

you can bring it to any best buy and they can send it out to get it fixed or they can transfer your hd's memory to a different Hdd
