Is there a hentai drought?

I understand that there's a convention right now/happened where Fakku staff/contributors are attending, but is anyone here privy to why there is a lack of site uploads in contrast to a few months back?
I was spoiled with the mass uploads, but now I starve. :(
I can't be the only person who feels this way.

You aren't the only one who feels this way. I've been lurking around Fakku since 2009 and the uploads have been slower than I can remember. With summer I expected a bit more, but life happens.

I'm just hoping that we free users aren't being thrown to the bottom of the food chain when it comes to fap material.

Yes, most of the content on the site is unlicensed. Jacob made a post about the removal of content that lists the schedule of when things are going to be removed.
The reason that unlicensed content is being removed is because mangaka and Japanese hentai publishers have refused to work with Fakku until the unlicensed content is removed.
There will be a ton of licensed content on this site by the end of the year. There are the books and doujins that Fakku has published, the free content that has been posted for users who bought books, and the upcoming simulpublishing of the two biggest hentai magazines. All of this content is licensed.

No, the reason it's being removed is because they can't claim moral legitimacy as a legal licensee if they're still hosting stuff they have no license for. They'd still be a pirate site regardless of their deal with Wani, and I'm not sure how you could reconcile that without some hypocrisy.
Though even with full releases of X-EROS and Shitsurakuen or Kairakuten or whichever it was, that's like 2 out of the 20-odd monthly magazines out there, so the content of the site will be drastically reduced, probably around the high 90s in percentage. It's not just "the majority" it's the overwhelming majority.

You're suddenly not going to have any other doujinshi or h-magazine content coming to the site. So even if Fakku released one chapter per day, that's only 7 new releases a week when you could have easily had 10 new releases a day beforehand. The sheer amount of material and variety of content will be lessened. Even with ALL of Wani's back catalog, that's still a small slice of the printed hentai world.

Another reason Jacob's removing the content is because several publishers/artists don't want to work with Fakku unless there's no unlicensed content on the site. So, once there's no illegal material, Jacob should hopefully be able to strike more deals with more magazines other than X-Eros and Kairakuten, which means more hentai.

They can barely release enough Wani material as it is currently, why would they want to take on far more material than they could realistically offer within a reasonable time frame? It's not about access to content, it's about low man-hours and sparse release schedules; Wani alone has an enormous catalog that Fakku could be working on for yeeeeaaaarrs. They don't need to add other publishers until they hire on a ton more people.

If things go well then they'd probably add on more staff along the way, but you have to start somewhere to get somewhere. I think in the end it will work out fine though.

You'll have fewer daily postings because Fakku will no longer grant the ability to allow uploads from the English scanlation scene, it'll only be their content posted at their pace. Whereas before, an uploader could have put up dozens of doujinshi at a time if they felt like it.

Only a fraction of those 20-odd magazines were ever translated. You make it sound like we lose 20 and gain 2, but in reality, it's a much more even trade as far as quantity goes. I seriously question whether there ever was a month in the past where we got 50 new magazine translations from current issues.
Obviously true, since we're starting over from scratch with licences content. It's silly to expect us to replace a decade of content in a flash.
Wani represents up to 20% of all new monthly magazine content according to your own figures (assuming each magazine is equal), which sounds like a fairly large portion for any one publisher. The company also dates back to the 70s, so I believe they would represent a large chunk of the market even if you go back in history.
That's a real "damned if you do, damned if you don't" attitude you've got there. We added a new team for when we decided to start working on magazines. If we're gonna pick up more magazines or books (from Wani or others publishers), we would naturally hire more people first to be able to handle that additional work.
Surely not if you're counting content that's actually new, and doesn't pad those numbers with older translations. Correct me if I'm wrong, but after a quick look, there seems to be around five new manga translations each day on average. Once we launch the initial two magazines, we'd almost be halfway there already.
