"It can't be helped..."

Something hit me just a minute ago... I've seen this turn of phrase (or some variant thereof) in hentai everywhere:
A guy gets hot and bothered, and as soon as it's made apparent to the woman, she says something like, "oh well, I guess it can't be helped"

I've never really figured out exactly what that's supposed to mean, is it implying sexual lust is unavoidable? Is it supposed to sound sexy? Honestly, I've never heard anyone say anything like that, why the fuck is it used so often?

Well, it just couldn't be helped.

Because in hentai, women are 100 times more likely to get aroused but obviously they can't just say "Let's fuck" and look like total sluts from the start since that's not very japanese woman-ish. SO instead we get, it can't be helped

It's a device exclusive to hentai and porn, really.
It moves the story along, lol, that's the only reason for its existence! ;)

I see it in regular anime all the time (it was in Gundam Seed quite a bit IIRC), but it does seem to show up more frequently in anime spank fodder.

It means the problem of the penis is so big that he can't control it and his lust, you can't avoid it and you have to take it head on to solve the problem.

It's probably just another way to show that the woman is submissive to the man, and she has to engage in sexual activity with him, yada, yada, yada.

That's why I kind of prefer my hentai untranslated. That way, I don't get distracted by offensive lines like that.
