READ THIS GODDAMNIT. THIS IS A BENEFIT FOR EVERYONE, NOT JUST NON-SMOKERS. MY CAPS LOCK IS STUCK SORRY.
Smokers are in dire need, life saving electronic cigarettes have been banned in Canada! These cigarettes contain none of the tar, tobacco and other chemicals of regular cigarettes, reducing the risk of cancer related diseases. Not only that, but they produce no second hand smoke, which could save the growing number of non-smokers the trouble of inhaling harmful chemicals because of our bad habits. Though CTV has released an article about how health canada disapproves(http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20090327/ecigarettes_090327/20090327), the harmful side effects they've listed are incredibly small compared to the miracles these simple innovations could produce! And E-Cigarettes are not the ONLY thing smokers can get nicotine poisioning. All of the alternatives could also do this. So long as there is nicotine, poisioning is ALWAYS possible. Added to this, some electronic cigarettes blink at the end when you're smoking too much, can nicotine patches and gum do that? (See http://www.blucigs.com for an example of how they blink to much, just go to the how they work video.) We can't just stand by, and we all know who's really behind this, it takes only a little of inference to see the truth. Use your logic, heart and rights as a citizen of Canada to stop this electronic cigarette ban. Because now our government is not only inadvertantly helping massive Tabacco companies, but also disrupting smaller businesses during an economic crisis(Think of the caring people at these companies who could really use the money.) So please, any smokers, even non smokers, repost this as your status, in a group, or to anyone anywhere in the world, we need as many people to know about this as possible to stop this crime.

I'm sorry pyre but I dun advocate smoking in the first place. If they truly want to quit, then they should just do it the hard way. That way, they will have truly quit if they succeed. If this catches on, smokers will just be like, "Oh with this tool I can quit if I ever break my chain and start smoking again!". In the end, it's these small tools that get abused and therefore become useless. They only hurt themselves more if they go on/off frequently between the use of both cigarettes.

That's the problem. This doesn't help people quit. It is only a temporary solution. Like I said earlier, to truly quit you have to retrain your mind, if you just change what your body intakes and not the mind, you will always slip right back

Perhaps. But you have no idea how hard it is to quit smoking. I smoked in high school till university. Even now I still get cravings for it. It's not an easy thing to just say no to. Not only is it constantly in the back of your mind, nagging at you, there are physical cravings as well, obviously. Not to mention that it's not only the nicotine. It becomes a habit, such as smoking in the morning or on the way to work. Try finding a bad habit of yours and then just instantly trying to stop doing it. It's almost guarantee to fail. People say "Just stop it doing it," are just patronizing assholes who have no idea just exactly how hard it is to stop.
But with that said, you are quite correct. If you are truly dedicated to stopping, then the only way is to go cold turkey. Just cutting down won't help, since you'll fall back into the habit.
As for the e-cigs, I will neither support nor oppose it. It's just another type of cigarette. Perhaps it will cut down on the cancer, or perhaps it will make more people take up smoking since they now believe it to be less harmful. That I don't know.
