Mogudan's Ayanami Rei

I guess I don't need to introduce you this fella as he does a great job making one of the hottest NGE doujins featuring Ayanami Rei.

Now, most of you guys might consider his artwork near perfect as his Rei looks really close to the original one but there is one thing that bugs me: the body. Especially in his doujins:

Seriously, it's not like we guys can't have a hard on on big breasts and big asses, but we're talking about Rei here. This kind of body doesn't suit her, at all. I always praise artists who can draw characters like they were the real thing, and Mogudan would be one of them if only he didn't screw up the body part... LIKE THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF A PERSON. Now, I understand that it is mogudan's unique style and nothing else but still, it feels like a waste.

*sigh*

Okay, now that I've finished micro-ranting about this stuff what do you guys think about it? Don't you think his work would be more awesome if he had drawn Rei with a more slender body?

He did some slender Rei's in his earlier works, But I don't know since when he has some Big Breast and Ass fetish in his works.

Look at Brave Soul, A Vn that he illustrated in his early days. He can still draw some beautifully average breast and asses, with normal body proportions.

I just think some people find their "kicks" after doing it for so long.

and yes, slender Rei, would be awesome, but I don't hate the present Rei.

I love Mogudan's style. Everyone else can draw Rei normally, but leave Mogudan alone. :D

^Agreed. Mogudan draws the best version of Rei. Yeah, he butchers the original proportions, but that's a good thing. It's great to have a lot of different versions of a character imo.

If not for Mogudan my interest in Rei would be little to none.

But yea, gotta agree ... every artists have right to choose whatever kind will be his/her artstyle ..

Well, for my case .. i cannot say i like it when Rei goes (over) busty like this .. Therefore, i didn't find it appealing.

Mogudan's style is awesome. But you gotta wonder why he changed from regular slender girls to *boom boom BOOM!*

I am pleasantly surprised to see the debate about Mogudan's Ayanami Rei (or any other of his/her current characters) still ongoing. It has been brought up many times, including the days which I still frequented 4chan.

Like what Kaimax mentioned, Mogudan used to draw slimmer characters, as seen in the eroge "Brave Soul", as well as the anime "Scrapped Princess". Even though Mogudan's style may have changed, popularity for his/her works still remain high, which is an indication of the quality (or perhaps sex appeal).

As long as Mogudan draws Rei as hot as he does currently, I don't mind the slightly enlarged proportions ^_^

It's within the artists' liberties anyway.
