The problem with the zombie movies that there are factually incorrect. If the zombie apocalypse happen you just got to survive for 42 days then it will be over. That's the average time it takes a body above soil to decompose to the point that meat and muscle disintegrate to nothingness and your bones aren't going to keep moving without muscles.
I forget which zombie movies had a brain altering disease that basically rabies on crack but that one's more factually realistic because as long as you're still alive you're still moving past that month n half of George Romero Rampage.

I mean, that does sound good in theory, but something has to keep the body moving for it to be a zombie, so either it's not quite dead, or there is some other (often magical) reason at play, possibly also keeping the decomposition at bay. Even disregarding that, though, the 42-day maximum assumes that every zombie would have been infected/died on the first day, so the actual time for it to blow over would be 42 days from the last death. Assuming it only spreads through zombie attacks.

True the 40-day average is based on the Assumption of a mass infection but if we think about it if the recently dead or people got bitten Within this time span the 42-day still holds up because mass panic and mass infection because of how are Society is grouped. True total zombie Extinction wouldn't be a perfect 42-day. But we can assume on an average between 42 days and 2 months 90% of zombies would have been nothing but skeletons and loose tendons by then but this is based on the regular Night of the Living death scenarios and not 28 days Resident Evil or God forbid The Walking Dead scenario because if we went for The Walking Dead scenario it doesn't matter about infection it's all about death all dead people come back as zombies so it wouldn't matter until all the humans are gone cuz you could be hold up on a private island with no one and we die you come back as one of them.
I guess you can see a zombie pandemic being like what they had in the stand or I Am Legend where it spread so fast that the population get some type of infection from other being from the grave or getting bitten by those from the grave so it should burn out quickly because how biology works. But yes total eradication wouldn't be a perfect 42 because they always will be some type of zombie until the last bitten gets turned into Mr skeleton
