-rep???

WTF?????? my one and only +1rep is gone!!!! huhuhuhuhuh T_T...........why???? i cant remember doing something undesirable???........besides...........its the only rep i have!......man!!!......T_T.....

You must have disagreed with someone, somewhere. Some people on here are pricks about that. If you disagree with them then they de-rep you. People really should have to explain why they de-rep someone then have it looked over by a mod to make sure someone isn't being a bitch about something trivial.

That's a bitch job in itself. Mods already have to watch threads to make sure things aren't out of hand, I'm sure they have better things to do with their time than to look at a whole list of reasons why someone derepped and repped a person.

Also this thread is asking for some more -reps

Well the idea was to explain why you are de-repping someone. Nobody really cares why you are +repping someone. The only reason to need to explain +rep is to prevent people from creating a second account and repping themselves which, if they did that then they are just pathetic and nobody would care.

As for my idea, maybe get another mod or just give someone the ability to review the things. A 10 second glance at a message explaining why they are de-repping someone isn't going to make a mods job any harder either. Plus, since the random squad all but, left the amount of topic derailing has dropped. Shesh, you make it sound like they are getting paid to be mods.

My suggestion was based off the idea Jacob had mentioned in the past. Since he's mentioned that he wanted to make rep actually count for something then my idea could be implemented after to prevent people from just being pricks. As it stands rep means absolutely nothing just like the gold stars you used to get in kindergarten.

On a more serious note at least the -Repping pricks can only - Rep once a day. I've been thinking tho why not just raise the post count needed to rep somewhere between 50 - 100?

Perhaps it should only be possible for non-mods to give positive rep. That way, people might give rep out more prudently and people wouldn't have to deal with be de-repped by idiots. Thus, if you say things that people think are cool/intelligent/interesting, they might give you rep as a reward, and if you have no rep, then you just haven't gotten that reward yet. If people are going to be idiots, let them be idiots and ignore them. If they get too bad, they might get banned, but I certainly don't waste my time de-repping them for making a dumb topic.

But seriously, in terms of reputation on this forum in the true sense of the words, I know who makes intelligent posts and topics and I know who posts interesting stuff from conversations, debates, reading posts, and such, not from some little number underneath their name.

I agree, there are members who I respect that have not even reached the double digits yet.

Seriously, though, he's right, it doesn't really mean anything significant. I personally give rep almost arbitrarily and on a whim. And I'm sure other people do too.
