depends on how worthless the life of the non-Rechargeable ones
or how many times Rechargeable Battery can be charged...

In a comparison between the best non-rechargable and the best rechargable.

Obviously, rechargeable batteries are better though it would add up to your electrical consumption.

The best non-rechargable last longer but after they've been juiced out they can't be used and you have to buy new ones. The best non-rechargables juice out faster but charge'em for a few hours and your back in the game.

let's put it in a game...
Rechargeable - 80 HP
Non-Rechargeable - 100 HP
and the Rechargeble's item were:
Super Potion X 99
and then Non-Rechargeable's item were:
sooo, think of a battle scene... who will die easily? or who is a tough nut?
Rechargeable - 80 HP
Non-Rechargeable - 100 HP

Super Potion X 99

Going with this analogy, each of them are mercenaries.
How much is it to hire Rechargeable VS Non-Rechargeable?
Rechargeable's items do not come with purchase of the mercenary, but rather it is able to carry potions, while Non-Rechargeable is unable to, meaning to use Rechargeable effectively, one must buy potions for it once you've hired it in order to drag out its full usage.
So for cost effectiveness you'd have to look for total effective HP(Starting HP + # of Potions)/Cost(Hiring Merc, Buying Pots).
The main thing to look for is the effectiveness of potions per GP(Cost of electricity) VS HP effectiveness per GP (Battery life/Cost).
It might be better to just hire a whole bunch of mercs to tank, or better to get a few mercs and buy pots for them.
Chances are, I think Rechargable wins out if you really need meatshields (use a lot of batteries), just prepare to learn when to buy new mercs when the level of your merc is no longer high enough to effectively tank monsters of that level (when your rechargeable batteries' life is pretty much done with).
An issue of usage would be that you'd want to be close to a power outlet to swap batteries if you want to use them continuously for long periods of time... but that sort of defeats the purpose of batteries VS plug in.
It's not required, but Non-Rechargeable batteries are simply not applicable to the above.

Rechargeable batteries don't hold that much energy you guys.
Your light bulbs use more than they do in about half an hour.
