The Legality of Hentai

First off, long time lurker. I thought I'd start off by asking others a question that kind of concerns me.
Hentai seems to be in a very gray legal area in the U.S. And for the most part, users can access it on the internet without any fuss. But what about when someone order physical hentai goods?
What I mean is, I ordered a item a little over a year ago that I think classifies as hentai. While it is not explicit, it does depict naked female characters who's age can be viewed as both a minor or adult, depending on the opinion of the viewer.
I had no problems getting the item, but now I'm concerned that should someone in power browse my transaction history, they will get the wrong idea about me. In particularly, I'm concerned about agencies such as the NSA, who was recently revealed to be collecting and holding all of the internet's traffic indefinitely.
This post might sound ridiculous to some, but it has caused me a decent amount of anxiety knowing that I could be presued by law enforcement for something I initially thought to be harmless.
What's your all's take on this? Am I over thinking this? I need more insight then what's inside my cloudy head.

Depends on what your states definition on obscenity and kiddie porn. The federal test(Miller test) which most other states base their laws on anyways.
The work is considered obscene only if all three conditions are satisfied.
The first two prongs of the Miller test are held to the standards of the community, and the last prong is held to what is reasonable to a person of the United States as a whole. The national reasonable person standard of the third prong acts as a check on the community standard of the first two prongs, allowing protection for works that in a certain community might be considered obscene but on a national level might have redeeming value.
It's a crap shoot and really is up to the local law enforcement/DA if your gonna get in trouble. Technically a lot of hentai is illegal since they say their in highschool and the age of consent is 18 and with loli any drawing of a underage girl/boy is CP. 99% of the time no one will get you since most of the language is grey on loli/shota since it not realistic and life like.
You shouldn't get toddercon thru the mail or questionable loli, but then again i never got searched nor my packages customs open when i ordered my comic lo and bee mangos. Unless your Canadian/Australian you not gonna get the black FBI van. Doesn't mean you in the clear but still the four people who got busted had other special items and files also. Pettanko also can be marked with underage. Just say she flat chested. I don't recall any kiddie porn cases with just cartoon drawing as the main criminal evidence. With loli kiddie porn isn't the problem it's obscenity charges.
I'm not a lawyer nor in my police work in the army had to use my limited knowledge of cp. Just recalling the criminal justice classes and the 1 day course on Kiddie porn in the academy.
With Vpns and torrents your somewhat anonymous. Private trackers are better. If you fear them you might wanta have a thumbdrive fro your loli so you can just hide and fry or encyrption programing.
