Vocaloid.

Could someone please explain to me what vocaloid is and how it works. ive heard that its a voice synthesizer or something but what exactly does it do. and how does miku fit into it?

If you want an answer then I'll give you one. WIKIPEDIA (jk). Anyways Vocaloid is a voice synth program where you basically write out the lyrics and the notes. There's more you can do but I'm sure there's somebody out there on fakku who knows more. As for miku, she was one of the characters released in vocaloid 2 character sets.

Like what Rovencrone said, VOCALOID's are a voice synth program which consist of different VOCALOID's which means different voices. Each VOCALOID have their very own unique voice given from someone(yes someone), Kagamine Rin and Len are voiced by the same person except Rin's voice is more to the higher pitch(girl) and Len to the lower pitch(boy). Miku was the first, Rin and Len was the second Luka was the third KAITO is the 4th(i think) the rest im not pretty sure anymore. Oh yea you can find more details in VOCALOID wikia and find their songs on youtube. rant rant rant

Mostly correct. Miku, Len/Ren and Luka are of the VOCALOID2 series, whereas Kaito and Meiko are from the original VOCALOIDs.

Software didn't catch on until they introduced Miku, though.
