unlimited budget works? did they spend a ludicrous amount on animation or something?
granted, the animations were very flashy and varied, so I'd imagine that's pretty expensive, but how bad could it be?

U mean the blurays that Type-Moon released to the west for fate/stay night stuff? Yeah they wanted the west to pay what japanese otaku pay for their anime that's why.
They don't really expect the western fans to buy many of their blurays. Its slightly more expensive than japanese release because it includes the cost of dubbing etc.
Personally, for me the Fate/Stay Night VN is more than enough. Its still the best VN I have ever read.

No idea, that's about all I know about the expensiveness of Fate/Stay Night.
And I don't really care about sword arts online anime, I get the manga for it. On the second volume of the series where busty blond leafa shows up. I won't buy SAO but I would buy High School DXD XD Well if it isn't priced as high as F/SN anime.

Because the implied sex scene between Saber and Shirou had weebs cream their pants and started throwing their money at Type-Moon.

I'm surprised people thought I was talking about the fate route anime - I actually meant ufotable's current one last season. How much did they even spend on production? 500 million or something? (in yen, ofc)

(in yen, ofc)No idea, but apparently the anime is niche so there's never enough buyers for the prices to lower in Japan. So they mark up their prices. I think.

Sidetracking quite a bit, the overall quality of anime has dropped steadily over the years, at least as far as plot quality among the majority of anime each year.
Granted, there are some really good anime, even in really bad seasons (Steins;Gate started airing in a season where I enjoyed pretty much nothing else), but the seasons themselves are all pretty lackluster, with most anime coming out half-assed, or rushed, or both.
It's disappointing when I think that many adaptations, as shit as they tend to be lately, surpass the majority of original anime (not based on other works), in every single season. There are many good adaptations at times, but there are hardly ever good anime that are not adaptations.
This goes to show that the production of anime seems to interfere with plot quality, at least in the way of many original works.
Granted, all this suspicion could just be my imagination, fueled by my overall dissatisfaction for the drops in quality of anime in the last 10 years.
It's hard to keep making masterpieces continuously when production costs for decent animation become so high, often times this means cutting some corners.

Nah, 12 episode seasons of anime is being made to see if alot people like it or not, if so many ppls like it, they will make more seasons of it. Such is the case of High School DXD which is getting it's third season.
And I think No Game No Life will get it's second season, just not announced yet.
Ones that is really really popular gets hundreds of episodes like, one piece, etc for publishers desire to make alot of money.

I guess perhaps I should clear a few misunderstandings before I make my next statements:
1. I don't actually care about No Game No Life, just the lolis (Shiro and Whats-her-animal-ears-tail-face), I requested a name change a while ago, just waiting patiently on it. I had originally changed it to this mostly to troll anti-loli users of places, but I got bored pretty fast.
2. I don't consider popularity to be the direct product of quality - there are anime that get popular without having a good plot (by my personal subjective standards), and so I can't really be satisfied truly ever. Essentially, I basically just need a reason to bitch lol.
3. I understand why they run anime without putting high investments into them on-the-fly, from an industry standpoint, but that doesn't mean it makes me happy. I wish they would cater to my very specific standards of perfectionism, but of course, that will never happen, so I'll at least always have something to bitch about.
4. You're a nice person for being considerate of me and putting so much time into replying to me... Thanks ^_^ and even if you weren't being considerate, thanks for your time anyway ^_^
Okay, so now for my next statement, sidetracking once again, but also back to earlier, do you, or anyone here, know how much they spent in production? I actually googled 'how much did ufotable spend on the production of fate/stay night - unlimited blade works', but was unable to find an answer there... maybe I worded my search wrong?
In the meantime I'm marathoning a few older anime I somehow missed before, Kaze no Stigma and Blood+. I watched Blood C a few years ago and was confused, but I'm pretty sure for some reason it was a prequel to Blood+ now

1. I mentioned no game no life because I want second season badly.
2. Its what I have observed and seen the comments over the internet. Unpopular anime don't get more than one season. Publishers only care if it will make them rich or not and then act accordingly. Popular anime = lots of buyers = lots moolah for publishers to buy their 100th yacht.
3. Again, Money. But there is one way you can do to combat the problem. Become rich and start a studio and have it focus onto your standards of perfectionism, they will after all you're paying their paychecks.
4. You're welcome. I'm just chilling around.
Nah I don't know how much they spend, I don't bother to look up XD Mainly because I'm guessing alot of answers can be found in japanese text.

1. Ah okay, my misunderstanding lol. Also, I didn't think it was a 'bad' anime, it just wasn't super memorable (to me) personally. Still better than a lot of that season though, which shows that it was a weak season (not surprisingly, summer tends to be a weak anime season most years it seems)
2. True that, without making money their company would not be able to compete with others, which would lead to loss in profits and even potentially eventual bankruptcy.
3. Wow, I didn't think of it that way. Although that would be nice, the problem with that is that if I actually pulled it off my priorities toward production might change, I'd care less about the quality and more about the quantity of money I get, which could mess up my dreams as envisioned. Would be entirely my fault, but it's probably for the better anyway. I'll watch anything, really, I have no such snobbish standards for watching things, I just like to complain about things after the fact, which could be good or bad depending if I'm right or just biased (mostly the latter though lol).
4. No probs, I might be a bother with all this text most of the time, but I hope we get along ^_^
On a mostly unrelated note, but still partially related to your comment about Japanese text, surprisingly reading/writing Japanese had been much easier than speaking it, even with the aid of taking college Classes.
Actually, writing it seems easier than reading them, since I only need remember stroke order and the strokes themselves, whereas I have to decipher the Kanji's reading in context (either kunyomi or onyomi), which is giving me significant trouble.
Granted, we aren't actually supposed to start learning several different readings in both forms until Japanese 103, but why not get an early start? It's hard as hell now, I certainly don't want to struggle this hard when it's required.
I start 102 this coming tuesday, took 101 last term, but to confuse myself harder I'm also taking Chinese 101 this term, wish me luck lol I'll need it ^_^

He thinks he'll improve his show by promoting what everyone ridicules Japan for. In any case he needs a lot more than titties to fix Cross Ange.
Relevancy, Ufotable has more money than average and it shows in the series. Pretty much being bribed.

-----------------
Here are just some things why Ufotable is the only studio called "Unlimited Budget Works".
Let's just simply see from the first airing cour of FSN Unlimited Blade Works
-They have a regular episode count, with 12 episode and 1 prologue episode
But 2 of those episodes have a 47 minutes run time. This is not common in the budget restricted anime making industry.
-There are no dropping in animation and episode quality. Simply their work is very consistent throughout airings. They don't use cheap cost cutting techniques, because they have the budget to do things properly. http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/quality
Also watch PA Works latest anime, Shirobako to learn a bit more about animatin part.
The only thing people don't know is "How much money was spent?", but it's safe to assume it was "A lot" when compared with other anime series, especially ones that have a very limited budget, like Log Horizon which is funded by the government.
