And so, gents- and the one or two ladies perhaps maybe- it's that time of year again.

It is time to stake your claim upon those fictional people that we love and adore so much.

Because we can.

HOW TO PLAY:

RRRRRUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRUUUUSSS

Post Count Requirement

-You need 100 legitimate posts in order to play. That would be the number displayed beside your name.

-If you have been a member for at least three (3) years, you only need 50 posts.

-Please do not spam your way to 100 to play. If we notice a sudden surge of posts- especially if your account had little to no activity before- it is very well possible that you'll be outright denied. There will be more waifu games.


Claims

-Each user is allotted up to five(5) characters. One claimed every round (see next section). If you start the game late, you may claim the same number of characters as there have been rounds e.g. If you start on Round 3, you can claim 3 characters at once.

-Any established fictional character from any published work is claimable. Anime, Videogames, Comics, Manga, Hentai, Webcomics, Books, etc. If you can buy it, you can claim a character from it.

e.g. Emily the Strange, is- indeed- claimable. Even though she's naught but a mascot- she is of published and purchasable material and is an established character.

-Multiple incarnations of the same character, however, cannot be claimed separately. Timelines, alternate dimensions, cloning- whatever the cause- they all count as a singular character.

e.g. Urashibara Ruka, although appearing as both a girl and a trap, cannot be claimed twice.

-Claims are to be made by stating the full name of the character, true/alternate identity if they have one*, and the full name of the series from whence they came.

*Exception to series within their debut season.

-Side/minor characters can be claimed, provided they,

have a name

and/or

show up at least three(3) times throughout the series

e.g. Himeko Tachibana, although having only one spoken line throughout both seasons of K-ON, is a named character.

-Real people can't be claimed. That includes other users, celebrities, supermodels, and people who don't even look real.


Rounds

The rounds shall begin on the following dates.

Round 1: December 25th.
Round 2: December 28th.
Round 3: January 4th.
Round 4: January 11th.
Round 5: January 25th.

All rounds shall start around 5-6 pm. MST (GMT-7)

They begin when I announce it within the game thread itself- so keep an eye out for that.

Round 5 lasts until the next game. Summer 2014.


Divorces

-You can divorce one of your claims, should ever your affections be swayed you heartless bastard.

-After divorcing, you cannot make another claim until full four(4) days/96 hours after you've made the divorce.

-The divorced character cannot be claimed for a full two(2) days/48 hours. To give them time to pick up the SHATTERED PIECES OF THEIR BROKEN HEART.

You monster.

-Each player has a maximum of three(3) divorces per game. Philandering knave.


Important (Things that are often ignored/misunderstood)

EACH WAIFU GAME HAS THREE(3) THREADS DEDICATED TO IT; GAME, LIST, AND DISCUSSION.

-THE GAME THREAD (Yes, this one. The one you are currently reading. YOU ARE IN IT. IT SURROUNDS YOU.) IS WHERE CLAIMS AND DIVORCES ARE MADE. NOTHING ELSE. NOTHING MORE.

-THE GAME LIST THREAD IS WHERE ALL THE ALREADY CLAIMED CHARACTERS ARE LISTED. FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE. SO THAT YOU MAY KNOW WHO'S ALREADY BEEN CLAIMED. SO YOU DON'T TRY TO CLAIM THEM. BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE OTHER THAN YOURSELF WHO IS NOT YOU HAS ALREADY DONE IT BEFORE YOU DID. SO DON'T TRY.

-THE GAME DISCUSSION THREAD IS WHERE ALL OTHER THINGS ABOUT THE GAME ARE POSTED. YOU DO NOT POST YOUR CLAIMS/DIVORCES IN HERE. YOU POST EVERYTHING ELSE THAT IS NOT A CLAIM/DIVORCE IN HERE.

-ALL CLAIM POSTS CANNOT BE EDITED WITHIN THE FIRST SIX(6) HOURS AFTER THE START OF A ROUND. FOR ANY REASON. ANY POSTS THAT HAVE BEEN EDITED WITHIN THAT TIME PERIOD WILL VOID THEIR CLAIMS. IF IN DOUBT, MAKE A NEW POST.


Mechas

-Introduced last game by Art, you may claim a mecha in addition to your regular five (5) claims.

-Mechas may only be claimed beginning on the 1st of February.

-Mecha claims must include the full name, and model number (if applicable), of the mech, and the name of the series it comes from.

-Rule check: Copy/Paste "Livin' la vida loca" in the Discussion thread now, or in your claim post once the game begins. Failure to do so will result in me voiding your claim on account of having not read the rules.




Sixth Slot

Some users may be able to earn themselves a sixth slot, but the conditions for doing so may be complicated. Read carefully, I will try to make it as clear as possible.


-If, across several users, a number of characters that are recognised as a group/set are claimed- all involved users may claim a sixth(6) waifu.

e.g.

Last Game, all of the members of Team RWBY (of the web series of the same name) were claimed by these users, as such- completing a recognised set- each of these users would get an extra waifu.

-The number of characters doesn't matter. Even just Panty and Stocking would qualify those users for the extra.

-The number of users, however, does matter. One user cannot try to complete the set on his own for the bonus. It must be a collaborative effort across several users.

-With series of extraordinarily large casts (Touhou, Negima, Girls Und Panzer, Bleach, etc.) groups within can qualify.

e.g. Within the myriad of characters within the Touhou universe- you guys don't need to try and claim all of them- just a recognised set. Such as the girls of The Scarlet Devil Mansion.

-Ultimately, what qualifies as a set is a matter of self-policing, since it's impossible for any one person to know everything. The final call is still up to me, however.

-The bonus can be claimed six(6) hours after the start of a round.

-PLEASE PROVIDE EVIDENCE. When claiming your bonus, please link to the other users' claims to show me that you have, indeed, completed a set.

-Having multiple characters of multiple sets does not mean you can claim multiple extras. You get only one(1) extra.

-IN THE EVENT OF A DIVORCE WITHIN THE SET, making the set no longer complete- only the person who has divorced will lose their sixth waifu. All other users who were part of the set get to keep theirs.
