Two Beasts or Not to Beast: how to get Polar Bear

I have been playing Two Beasts or Not to Beast and really enjoying it! I have gotten all the guest characters except the polar bear, but even with the fortune hint I cannot figure it out.
Spoiler:
The fortune says to buy flowers after noon, then visit the downtown at dusk. I can buy the flowers and trigger the first interaction with the dialogue choice to ask for flowers, but I have tried visiting down town every possible time after that and it never triggers a second event.
Does anyone know how to get the polar bear event?

Wait I figured it out (via a ridiculous amount of brute force experimentation):
Spoiler:

You have to visit downtown starting from the other side of town (like the park) not the same side of town (like the mall) at dusk, or else it won't trigger the second event.


Great game though, the scene was worth figuring it out!
