So, just wondering what's with the hype about 3D nowadays? Half of all high budget movies come in unnecessary 3d, Yugioh comes in 3d, we have 3d tvs, 3DS, and apparently Youtube now has a 3d function.

It's over priced and over hyped, and in a few years everything will be 3D and we'll still be saying that it's over priced and over hyped, eventual it'll become the norm and no one will really care anymore. So sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the dropping of the public IQ. But enough of that, what's 3D porn gonna be like?

This isn't the first time 3D got popular, but then again you might not be able to call it a phase this time since they're selling 3D televisions now.
I would assume they're not gonna quite be the focus of the market yet. LCD is going to be phasing out while LED phases in, and maybe after a while LED will phase out and 3D will be a norm. Who knows though

Meh until they have something in place that doesnt cause the glowing effect and wouldn't require those absurd glasses 3D is nothing but an age old fantasy with making reality out of nothing.Truly all this hype originated in 2009 with avatar and the rise of stereoscopic functioning games and as such has lead to many consumers falling into this archaic symbol of the golden age perspective of technology in the twenty first century.

"no that's a stupid f*cking gimmick and everyone knows it" - hellsing ultimate abridged
I've always hated 3D, and probably always will. There's lots of hype about it now, but it will go away once everyone realizes that there's no potential. I see no point in having 3D effects on a 2D screen; it just blurs the image. If they want quality 3D, they will need to stop using a 2D screen.

Same reason black angus beef and applewood smoked bacon are all you hear about. Marketability of a product requires a good selling point.
3d superior to 2d is already a commonly accepted belief. Why not use it to sell something?

I dunno. I think that 3Ds these days are shit, specially in cinemas, where only like, thirty minutes of 3D usage was used per a title. XD

Wha? The only steaks I eat are rib eyes. Everything else is hard and should be cooked a different way.

ever played Skyrim in 3D? Its great and adds a different difficulty to the game, and awesomeness. If 3d is making the game harder why on earth....nevermind.
Anyways Im sick of 3d being in the title of every damn thing now. Slapping 3d on something almost instantly makes it tacky.
Also, I dislike 3d glasses, so this is not a happy fad for me.

The only 3D movie I'll see again will be the next Avatar, since I didn't get to see the first one in 3D
BTW has anybody else noticed how a lot of 80's tech has been reintroduced lately

But even then, it didn't really influence me to buy one... until a relative of mine wanted a brand new TV and he was a lot more into the whole 3D hype so, yeah, we ended buying one regardless lol. We have a Samsung 3D Smart TV and it's pretty cool as it can "mock" 3D effects on anything (TV channels, movies, games, etc.) even if the media source isn't originally optimized for 3D. It almost makes buying 3D-specific copies of blu-rays useless, but we still buy them every now and then. We currently have a few titles in 3D, one of them being the recently-released "Tekken: Blood Vengeance" from Tekken Hybrid, and I can tell you it looks awesome. In fact, I'd go as far to say that the whole 3D hype really shines in CG/animated movies or games as opposed to live-action films.
Mind you, I'm a guy who already wears prescribed glasses so putting on 3D glasses on top of them is the only way for me to go and it is rather uncomfortable especially during long periods of usage time. It's because of this and its high price that I'm still reluctant to buy a 3D TV if it were personally up to me.
