Ali Project

I once picked up the anime Kamichama Karin. I watched the first ep, then said "Fuck it, there is better anime to be watched out there". Shift + Delete.
But the intro intrigued me, so I lept onto teh interwebs. Found out the artist was Ali Project and did what I normally do. Grabbed the Discography torrent and downloaded everything.
I found the first few albums to be too... well, I suppose I can't classify them. But I didn't enjoy them as much as I did the latter ones (2001+)
Has anyone else heard of them and enjoyed their work? And if so, are there any similar artists that you know of, FAKKU?

Well, you could always check out Rozen Maiden, ALI Project released a single for each season of the anime. Also the anime features kukui--which is quite similar but very different in some ways from ALI Project. Another anime releases involving ALI Project could be found in *gasp* Gendou too ^_^ but if you're too lazy to check I think that ALI Project's latest release is in Kaibutsu Ojou - Monster Princess.

Well...not exactly similar, sorta hard to find songs that are the same style as Ali Project. At least I haven't come across one, that I can remember anyways.
I'd suggest: Although these are just bands/artists I like...lol
Ishikawa Chiaki/See-Saw: She does the OP for the Bokurano and Simoun animes. She has also done work with the .hack stuff.
Sound Horizon: Their songs usually tell a story, so if you know Japanese...enjoy.
Shiina Ringo/Tokyo Jihen

lol i know alot of people and i mean ALOT of people who hate ALI project.Hmm. Constructive.
Show them to me, and I will slap them all. Or punch, depending on how much they deserve it.
Joking, everyone is entitles to their opinion. But those people probably hate all j-music anyway, so they don't count.

Well, there's always Last.fm, which gives you similar artists as chosen by other users, and then their similar artists, and so on. You get the picture. But it is quite a useful little site, and it has helped me find half my Japanese music, most of which I love. It's only ever about music, so none of that whinging and camwhoring you get from social networking sites. You can listen to previews of some of the artist's/band's songs, see what kind of music they play, find out how popular a band is, when and where their next concerts or gigs are, their most popular songs etc.
So yeah, quite a good place to start. There is already a thread about Last.fm but I can't be bothered linking to it right now, it's mostly about what I've said here.
And here's the link for you lazy people like me:

I don't usually go into the music sub-forum, but I'm glad that there are other people who enjoy Ali Project as well. You'd be surprised at how many people don't like them for their "unusual" style in their music.

i wonder why there's so much people hate them...
btw, the opening to umineko no naku koro ni is pretty similar to their songs, imo.

Seems the style is to uncommon so a lot of people dislike Ali Project. I must say it's particular, but it's the reason I like it so much.
One of my favorite song is "Pekin Lovers".
The songs in french are special (maybe because I'm french), but it's singed very well
