Are gamers welcome in anime conventions? What are they like?

I'm personally more the world of warcraft mmo type, as opposed to an otaku.
Yet I love anime, just not as much as gaming; If I were to cosplay anyone it would be matt from death note! Stupid question I know, but i've never been to an anime con!

Anime conventions are shit tons of fun where you meet and talk to people who hopefully have the same intrests as you in anime and trust me alot of people at them play games religously and many ive been too hold at least one room in the convention dedicated to playing games where they set up tvs and consoles and usually have tournaments for prizes. I would really suggest going
so yes you'll definitly be welcome :D
to answer the second question its usually insanely expensive to go to them because not only do you pay alot just to get in once you get in the majority of the floor will probably be shops for you to spend more money on probably over priced goods and there will gaurenteed be at least 2 pockey/ramunue shops there that also sell other japanese snacks. Beyond that too have the most fun attend the many panels and events they have there. For instance one of my favorites was one where i got to meet the voice actors of alot of famous anime characters (like the guy who voiced krillin) watch a dance off where a kakashi cosplay one and then go to manime where i spent an hour or so sitting with my best friend watching the most testostorone filled event ive ever seen (we watched a bad ass warrior fight his way through a horde of knights and grusomely decapitates the evil general and slices his head in half all while the hosts threw bacon into the audience for shouting "HELL YEAH") also watched a bit of hentai at the end which i was definitly more into.
But most importantly bring a camera and take pictures of the cosplays they're usually off the charts. And from your profile pic i feel like your a len fan girl so you should be pretty happy hes like the 2nd most cosplayed vocaloid :D (besides miku)
also dont worry about all the shit youre probably getting people generally are just dicks to new people on this site (unless youre in meet and greet) just make your posts more meaningful and youll be good

They are always present in conventions and have their own circle of friends with the same interests.

The focus of the anime con is anime. People who play games can also enjoy anime.

Can't tell if serious or not.
Anime Expo, one of the largest conventions for anime in America, has 2 seperate rooms for games. One arcade center, and one console gaming section. Last year they had several tournaments for fighthing games, namely Mortal Kombat, Smash Bros Brawl, and Marvel Vs Capcom 3.
If that isn't enough, then you're a lost cause. Being an Anime fan and a gamer is not mutually exclusive.
