Are there any popular J-rock/J-Pop singers in US?
0
Hi
I was wondering if anyone knew of any J-rock or J-pop singers or bands that have a US presence. I have a lot of favorites but I think they are all in Japan. I'll also list out my favorites so maybe someone can tell me if one of them has a professional presence here so I can go to their concerts and let them know in person how much I love their music.
Scandal
Nami Tamaki
Yui Horie
YUI
AZU
Nico Touches the Walls
M.o.v.e
Megumi Hayashibara
UverWorld
Asian Kung Fu Generation
Last Alliance
Sukima Switch
TM Revolution
Mika Arisaka
FLOW
V6
Abingdon Boys School
That's the short list with all my major favorites. I could look this up all on my own but that would take way to long so I'm hoping someone can help me. If there are any you know of that aren't on this list then feel free to speak up. I love finding new singers/bands to enjoy.

I can only think of Utada sadly. Yoko Kanno MIGHT have a few out there but I can't recall.

Hikaru Utada, Crystal Kay, Marc Panther(of Globe) and Yoshiki (X Japan, Globe) are the only artists who have demonstrated fluency in English that I've seen. There are a few others like the DJ for TRF that probably speak English because they are probably sons/daughters of US servicemen, but it's just not that common.

Recently went to a concert in Chicago with Dir En Grey, they seemed to have a pretty big fan base there : )

It doesn't necessarily have to be in english, in fact, it wouldn't be jpop if it was in english. I'll check out the ones that have been listed. I've heard several people recommend Utada Hikaru. I've never heard of the others but I'll check them out in any case. I guess my favorites just stay in Japan. Jpop must not be popular enough in the US for them to warrant spending the money to do events here. Oh well, I'll probably get a chance to see some of my favorites when I go to Japan later to study abroad or for a work internship.
