[Locked] Computer is unable to sleep

So, for about a week now, my computer has been unable to sleep or hibernate. I have not installed anything, removed anything, or tweaked anything. Whenever I press the power button or go through the menu and click sleep or hibernate, my monitor shuts down but my computer is still running. It's almost as if my computer is half asleep. After the monitor goes off the computer is practically shut down....except it's on.

My specs are:

Laptop: Dell Latitude E6400
4GB of DDR2 RAM
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26GHz
Windows 7 64-Bit Ultimate

I've already gone checked my power settings, gone into cmd (used powercfg request command) and have tried shift + click hibernate. I have also tried making scripts again that I used to use back when I used Rainmeter as a shortcut to my power options.

I prefer to keep my computer asleep if I am not using it. It's irritating for me to reboot my computer because I have to manually start the WLAN service through services.msc. Windows Aero does not work either until I "troubleshoot" it. As a result, I have to power off my computer whenever I do not use it now.

Why does turning your compy on from the off status not autotomatically start the wlan and windows aero stuff? Sounds like something in your windows settings is off or maybe corrupted because those things should start up automatically unless theyre manually changed to not start up with windows.

I never use sleep myself but I guess I can see the benifits of it on a laptop. But if what you mentioned is the only reasons you prefer sleep Id look into fixing the wlan and areo along with the sleep issue. Shutting down your computer is generally better for its lifespan esspecially if you are leaving it in sleep mode all night.

I imagine looking into "sleep broken windows X" via google would simply result in the various fixes you have already tried and Im not sure which os you have installed so I wont bother but if you havent done such a search it is probably worth a shot. The os is propably related to the problem since youve already looked for anomalies in your power settings and your issues with windows aero and wlan would be related to the startup configuration of windows. But yeah, maybe try a system restore prior to the sleep problem though Ive never had one of these restores fix a problem of my own but everyone always tells people to do em :D Sorry for talking alot without really providing much help~

Upload your system information.

Start -> Type dxdiag in the search box and press the enter key.

If a confirmation prompt asking you whether or not you want to check for WHQL digital signatures appears, choose Ok. Once the progress in the lower left of the system information window disappears, click "Save All Information", use the default name and save the file to your hard-drive, upload it and post the link.

Upload your system event log.

Control Panel -> System and Security -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer

In the left tree pane expand Windows Logs and click System. Next, in the right pane click "Save All Events As". Give the file whatever name you want, upload it to a public file server like File Dropper and post the link.

Sounds like something is hanging right before the comp goes to sleep. The next time it fails to go to sleep immediately check the event viewer then go to windows logs > system in it and look around for anything suspicious. You should see things from the source "Power-Troubleshooter" Like "The system is entering sleep/hibernation" and "the system has resumed from sleep/hibernation"

I think the highlighted event may have something to do with it.

I also think I found out about my wifi and Aero. The service manager runs it, then tries to run it again causing it to crash, then tries to run it again but this time it receives an error stating that it is already running.

I found out I can get my computer to hibernate by running shutdown -h through the command line. Thanks for all the help though.
