Contraception

Spoiler:
For all of us who have a partner/significant other/etc, there is the constant threat of the preggers. Some may not consider it a threat in the more conventional sense of the word, but for many, the arrival of a baby is unplanned and sometimes unwanted. I, for one, would love to have children, but certainly not now. I am in college, my boyfriend works, we don't live together (though we plan to in the future), and we are in no shape of form financially or mentally ready for having a little one.
So, my question is, how do you protect yourself and your partner? Maybe not out of wanting to prevent being pregnant, maybe just out of health reasons.
The first few months we were together, my boyfriend used condoms. I was also on birth control pills, prescribed to me by my doctor (actually not to prevent pregnancy, but to control my hormones to help with acne and irregular periods). About 3 months ago, he suddenly slipped in with no condom on, and that made a world of difference. I still take birth control, and he cums outside. I severely doubt we'll ever go back to using condoms, as the greasy sandwich bag sensation is less than pleasurable.

Well let's say that i use to just pull out or just bust one inside because i was told i can't reproduce unless i have them implanted via doctors... yeah that was a failure. Now i have two kids. I just going to say that condoms/ pill is your best choice but if you are just with one honest not cheating or junkie.. then the pill/pull out with be ok.. still have a 1% chance of getting knocked up. Maybe a implant or anal will be fine..

Always use the most you can! Spermicide, pill, condom, whatever works in your relationship.
Hell, having tubes tied is simple AND reversible (for men).
I think more guys need to try it; birth control has always been assumed as "women's work" because they are the ones who get pregnant, but it's a joint effort, folks!

If you want to increase the effectiveness of your protection, you can mix different methods. For instance spermicides can be used with everything else (in the EU nowadays most condoms come with spermicide pre-applied), but you can buy this in solutions and apply it to the vagina before the act to make your act safer.
You may also use a diaphragm or a cervical cap, as these won't impede your enjoyment of the act as much as condom while providing a similar barrier. It's recommended to use these in combination with the pill.
You could also ask your gyno about IUDs as once implanted it has a similar reliability to perfect usage of pills (always on time).
...then there's sex that doesn't involve coitus. No-one ever got pregnant through anal sex alone.

Ugh, yeah there's a reason those aren't that popular any more... feels like a damn baggie. Same for the female condom.
I'm kind of mixed on IUDs. Though they have similar effects to the pill, they can cause a few issues of their own with chemicals and such in terms of side effects.
There really ought to be more male-applicable methods of birth control: in my gender and tech class, we discussed the idea of the male pill.
Problem is, companies see no profit in it, as males don't see themselves as important in the pregnancy process as they themselves don't conceive....

Haha no one in the world I live I think it's a joint effort to get preggers, not just the girls fault. Commendation for that comment!! :D
And pill and condom works just fine for us, but in curious about lube. I dunno which one would be better as there are so many to choose from!!! :-/

there is this thing called a birth control shot. Makes it so you don't need to take pills or condoms for 3 months. My ex used to use it and it was pretty awesome, we dated for 2 years and nothing bad happened.

Um... no. A vasectomy is not an easily reversible procedure, so it's not a viable form of contraception if you want children later on.
Wikipedia wrote...
Although men considering vasectomies should not think of them as reversible, and most men and their partners are satisfied with the operation, there is a surgical procedure to reverse vasectomies using vasovasostomy (a form of microsurgery first performed by Earl Owen in 1971. Vasovasostomy is effective at achieving pregnancy in only 50%-70% of cases, and it is costly, with total out-of-pocket costs in the United States often upwards of $10,000. The rate of pregnancy depends on such factors as the method used for the vasectomy and the length of time that has passed since the vasectomy was performed. The reversal procedures are frequently impermanent, with occlusion of the vas recurring two or more years after the operation. After reversal, sperm counts and motility are usually much lower than pre-vasectomy levels. There is evidence that men who have had a vasectomy may produce more abnormal sperm, which would explain why even a mechanically successful reversal does not always restore fertility. The higher rates of aneuploidy and diploidy in the sperm cells of men who have undergone vasectomy reversal may lead to a higher rate of birth defects. In other words, no, vasectomy shouldn't be undertaken lightly. Hopefully the "man's pill" or "man's shot" will be available in a couple of years that doesn't have such severe complications.

I always use a condom- always. That pisses off some girls, but I don't care. I'm a cautious person.
Also, I'm a protestant. It's my religious duty to wear a condom. In fact, today I'll have a french tickler, for I am a protestant! [/forcedreference]

if you don't want to use a condom anymore then spermicides/birth control/withdrawal method is probably for the best

Applying hot water to your testicles for moderate periods of time will reduce your sperm count. I saw something related to that on a Chinese channel but forgot what its exact purpose is. Birth Control and pulling out are good methods if you can't use a condom, but if your partner really got pregnant from those two combinations... well you just have terrible luck.

My boyfriend and I started out using both female birth control (the pill - in my case, the generic form of yaz) as well as condoms for double protection. He was a little paranoid, because the pill doesn't give you physical verification that everything is protected the same way condoms do (literally blocking the semen). However, as horny people tend to do... when we switched to a really thin type of condom our curiosity got out of control, and we decided to do it bareback "just this once", "for special occasions", etc... and that rule didn't even last a day. We've been going without condoms ever since, and never have had a single problem. The thing with pills is you absolutely HAVE to take them EVERY SINGLE DAY around the same time, and if you don't do that or you overcompensate your pills (taking more then one when you realized you've missed a day) or you take a "morning after pill" along with your birth control when you're anxious that it might not've worked you'll totally fuck up your cycle and your protection and end up pregnant. So, it's important to know the right way to take your medications, and to then proceed to take them accurately from then on.
As for people who say the pulling out method is a good one, you are ABSOLUTELY DEAD WRONG. Men still release pre-cum which can get women pregnant even without the big ejaculation at the end, and if you're saying the pulling out method is good to do with a condom on... it's actually kind of a waste in my opinion.

I make absolutely sure to take my pill every single day. I take it right after breakfast.
I also agree with you that pulling out alone is a horrible method. You CAN get pregnant from precum. But I'm sure that the pill takes care of the precum and he pulls out, then there should be no problem.
Every now and again, I get a little paranoid "Oh God what if it didn't work what if this time something happened what is that little bump oh Jesus we're not ready for this aaaahhhh" but a quick pregnancy test puts those fears to rest. I need to learn to trust my medication. Though I do have to say it is a relief to get my period every month. That one week of reassurance is all the proof I need. :)
