Curse This New Technology! (Ipod related question)
0
Okay so after a long stretch of not having an mp3 player after my last one committed brain suicide, (Long story I will share if you want.) I have finally decided to purchase an Ipod however I have one big question that may potentially keep me from buying such a thing and that is this little annoying question.
By "transfering" the music already on my hard drive (IE in my "my music" folder) Will I have to use double the HDD space to store two copies of the same music from now on?

No...you're transfering your song to your ipod...

Itunes doesn't make copies of the songs, it just keeps note of what directory the songs are in and syncs the mp3's from there.

I remember that I had a separate iTunes folder which housed all my music, even though it was also on my hard drive.
To say the least, I don't know if it doubles all your songs, although the encouragement from the other users says it doesn't, I have a contrary experience. However, I have not used iTunes in a while, since I lost my last iPod on a plane in Costa Rica last summer. The other users are probably right.
