Let me get this straight, you want to play DnD and buy your own board, but not buy your own board...
Suggestions, borrow your friend's board.

My friends don't have any. I was wondering if there are any *online* simulators i can try to decide if i want to buy my own board.

You can read about it or look at some videos.
There is a DnD Online, but it looks more like World of Warcraft than a board game.

I saw this a while ago: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/redbox.aspx (hit play in a game button).
it shows stores near you that host games. i used to know some guys who played warhammer 40k, and they went to a shop that hosted those, D&D, and trading card games. there were even tournaments. maybe you can find a place and sit in or just watch

I'm not sure what you mean with "or any kind of tabletop game with similar gamestyle", but there are various free RPG systems in the internet.

Take samples from DnD and all the other tabletop games. Then mix that shit together and make your own game. If you do it right, it will be awesome and you can make money off of it.

There are usually game boards thats for demos in stores near you.
I got started on warhammer first by just watching a few weeks of them playing.
Slowly you'll get into it and save up money for any games.
If you think a game is too expensive = Dont bother thinking about it.
D&D is pretty fun, although I've never had much love for rpg board games.

Then do what I've suggested :)
Go to a local game shop and Im sure people there will love to help and guide you.
If not, then find the game online I guess. :P
