Donations

Not talking about IRL donations. It's about internet donations.

Some sites absolutely refuse it and suggest donating to something worthwhile and some sites just have it just in case someone wants to donate to them. Was just on Coalguys and they were asking for donations so they could stay at a hotel for AX. Doesn't seem morally right to do that, but I don't think they care cause it's coalguys. Fakku doesn't have a donation button and doesn't ask for money, besides that one time. I don't know what to think of it yet...

What do you think about donating?

All donations go to Jacob's coffee addiction, that's why.

I think if people are upfront with what the donations will be used for, then it's okay. Coalguys said they want donations so they can get a hotel - if people want to do that for them, good for them.

Soba-Scans asks for donations for doujinshi and h-manga we can't find on the internet but want to obtain to scan ourselves, and we get some donations for it. I'm waiting for a shipment of stuff right now in the mail in fact.

Personally, I wouldn't donate to someone who wants a free stay at a hotel, but I have donated in the past to some scan groups who buy their own scans for manga. Why? Because it's hard work, and they're doing it for everyone to read for free, so why not?

Jacob has a relatively small operation here but I'm sure it's no small change.

I wouldn't consider Fakku a small operation, but none the less - it's not free for Jacob either.

I mean on like, a super large scale. It's no Google, but it's also pretty large and highly visited (though pretty much a niche market).

I don't see anything wrong with the concept of asking for donations. i used to panhandle a fair bit. some people kick down and some don't. you don't know who will or won't unless you ask. and if you're in need, you won't gat anything at all if you don't ask.

I think people are free to squander their earnings on almost anything they want, so someone asking for donations isn't going to bother me at all. I'm just not going to donate if I don't agree/can't afford it.

We at LWB use depositfiles to earn money for doujinshi (which we buy often, the boss just went on a shopping spree, lol...), it doesn't cost the users a penny. Just a bit of patience.

Speaking of which, I know paying file hosters are banned on Fakku, but with the traffic Fakku gets, why not put one of those in the download links for mangas in the database to substitute a donation? Guess that would mean a double standard, but it would be a way to earn some money...

He spends it all on Hookers and Blow, he already said this. Why help Jake's addiction? also LBW and SS are lieing out their asses, they're going to strip clubs every night with that donation money and just rob otakus for their scans when they get the chance. F u guys for lieing IMO!!!
