Double lives .. split personality .... 2 different minds ..?
Do you have 2 minds, one for the outside and inside the net?

So recently it came to my attention that many people on the internet lead a double life, one being crazy like a mad scientist online but being a kind and gentle person outside the net, or sorta like a split personality. This has been going on for years now and it really peaks my interest as to why it is so amusing in the first place.
Is there a reason to even have a different personality online, wouldn't it be better to be a person of whole online or out?
( Many say it is useless being yourself online, while others say you should apply your full being online to make the internet community better )
In what ways does it satisfy a person to have 2 different characters?
You know anybody that does that sort of thing?

You'll get stabbed outside if you do that.

Because online you dont see that person, so its easier to be rude. And I probably wouldnt want to live in a world where everyone acted like they do online...
As for me, I'm pretty much the same person online and irl. I just usually talk way more openly online than irl. And thats just because I can be a bit shy (depending on company) and online its easier to talk about things.

Yeah, what Rapa said.
I still didn't tell anyone IRL about the time when I slightly cut my ballsack with an electric shaver.
It hurt like a bitch for a few days after that. *shudders*

Online, it's easy to only see and feel like you are talking to text and avatars.
In real life, you are talking to actual people who are emoting, which is why it's easier to be a asshole online.
I try to be the same person online and offline, but I'm a little more of a asshole online, I'm very polite IRL.

Inb4 IBYou're taking this too seriously.
Actually I wanted to create a decent thread this time involving real answers from you guys ... I thought a little change wouldn't hurt too much.
OT:
Ok so basically everyone admitted they are real nice in real life, but why be an asshole online in the first place?

It's more fun to act like an asshole. It's even more fun if others also act like that.
But everything between sane borders.
"Moderated chaos" would be the best term.

[size=14]If anything I am the real me on the internet. On the internet there are almost no consequences for doing things so it's much easier to be yourself without toning it down whereas if you said certain things IRL people who actually influence your life might change their opinions of you.[/h]

It's easy to be an asshole on the Internet but it's hard to be polite person on the Internet. Just get this mindset to be a nice guy and you'll do fine. You don't have split personality or anything like that.

It's easier to try the opposite online where anyone who judge you won;t really affect your real life.
Someone in the net can accuse you of a huge troll or a dickhead but this insults will never affect your real life - unless that person cursing you is someone you know or knows you.

I do not have a split personality between here and irl. And I gotta agree with everyone who posted on here lol. Anyone can be an a**hole on here and get away with it. I mean if I were to call Medzy and b*itch (which I do not mean at all! SERIOUSLY) what he is he/she gonna do? Nothing. It's just simple to be an a**hole on here. But just like Raparperi said how I am on here is how I am irl...actually...I'm just like Rapa...are you my long lost sibling? O.O
