Engine Rebuilding.
1
That's what i'v been doing at school for the past month. Rebuilding a piece of shit engine for a grade. It was quite the experience. My team consisted of 5 people. 2 slackers,1 person who just didn't give a shit, me and another person who is a hog. Sometimes i fell like i have the worst luck in the world. We had to disassemble it and then rebuild it.
Spoiler:
It was ALLOT of pieces to take apart and put back together but over all it was quite easy because everything was keep'd organized. Only me and another person did most of the work. The other 3 were just there. 2 were fooling around and the other guy helped too but he is too laid back in my opinion. I had a lack of confidence that the motor wasn't going to run because of the team i got and also because we were always the last ones to receive special tools needed to disassemble and reassemble the engine. It was allot of parts to put back together in a specific order in so little time but i thank God it was done in time and it ran in the end.
That engine was beat to death. Allot of pieces were missing, broken,or worn out so that gave even more problems. We also had to use allot of old gaskets so that explains one of many reasons reason all of that smoke that was coming out. That smoke is bad it can kill you. Overall this was quite the experience for me. Engine rebuilding doesn't seem that hard at all. It just takes allot of patience. Rebuilding this monster is like building a LEGO. You just have to know the order everything goes in. Oh boy i'm glad this is out of my way.

So you rebuilt an inline 4 cylinder. It is tedious work but not as bad as working on a V6 or V8 engine. Especially in newer cars. (I'm talking about you Ford.)

that looks like a DOHC motor.. that's some tedious work there.. we only worked on SOHC 'rolla engines.. our teacher was obsessed with corollas.. so naturally, we worked on rolla engines and he had a whole bunch of 4age's..
But as soon as i had to change the head gasket of my car's engine, shit was intense.. fixed it up, dropped a washer in one cylinder (by accident) and didn't realise till afterwards.. it wasn't working, so we took it apart again and realised, finding dents in the cylinder head, and we realised the timing was out... stupid honda doesn't make their timing marks right :|

Rebuilding an engine really isn't that hard. My dad and I rebuilt his 455 three times last year because it kept blowing up while drag racing. Fucking thing kept throwing rods and spinning the bearings. As long as the block itself isn't damaged you can replace anything. Just gotta know what you are doing and that you have the tools for the job. We welded together the broken pieces from one year and made a human-like trophy with valves for eyes and camshafts for the body. We even rigged it so you could pour beer in the funnel for a mouth and it would piss out of a push rod like a dick. Even welded some caps for balls on it.

lol.
I had to pull apart the civic's engine at least 5 times....
once for headgasket and timing belt
a second time for headgasket (cause of the washer)
a third time for the timing
a fourth time for the carby (the engine wasn't running well, as the carby plate was on backwards lol, letting in lots of air)
a fifth time for the water pump. :D
Long story short, i can change a head gasket in almost an hour now :D
