Well here's how you can do it.
First you'll need to turn the youtube file into an .flv file using
http://keepvid.com/
Once the .flv file has been downloaded to your computer, you'll need a player that supports .flv files.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/vlc/files/1.1.8/win32/vlc-1.1.8-win32.exe/download
Microsoft Windows users also have the ability of playing FLV files in Windows Media player with the right codec. Downloading and installing the CCCP codec will install this codec.

You mean to hard drive?
There is an easy way to do that without software:http://www.blastingvolume.com/2009/10/directly-download-youtube-videos.html
Just use the JavaScript code in the browser for the correct definition and download either as flv or mp4. Works for me all the time when download 720p or 1080p videos.

I wanted to say laptop or computer but it wouldn't fit.
Also I can't tell if you're question whether or not it's your computer.

Actually you can download most of the videos(and I mean not just flvs)
in the net by using some torrent download managers such as
Bitcomet
http://www.bitcomet.com/
and
Orbit
http://www.orbitdownloader.com/
I use them to download streamed shows and files.
Hope this helps.

Here an application if you're just downloading videos on Youtube.
It doubles as a converter too.

I prefer Keepvid, as you can get the raw .flv and HD H.264 .mp4 without installing crap.
Not sure why people need converters, as they lose quality.
