If your getting video even at default driver levels your video card is probably not toast.
Start by going to add/remove programs and uninstall all video drivers. They will be listed under Nvidia Drivers. Go ahead and uninstall any other nvidia software related to your video card. If your using an nforce based motherboard leave those drivers alone. Restart your PC
Download the newest driver package from nvidia. Make sure you get the correct version for your language/OS type. It may be you downloaded a 32/64 bit version when you have the opposite. You're also going to want to get a fresh copy in case the copy you have is corrupted. Here's a link:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-260.99-whql-driver.html
Install the driver package. This should be a fairly automated process, just let it finish itself, then restart your PC.
Hopefully this fixes the issue. If you're still seeing problems, you'll want to contact the manufacture of your video card for further troubleshooting steps.

BFG is his GPU redistributor. Ooh, ouch. Don't think I saw that anywhere. Don't feel too bad though I'm rocking a 285 GTX from BFG. Fortunately they make some solid products.

I was referring to the fact that the company is defunct as of September 2010. Along with its website.
