There is a great deal through Reaper Miniatures going on right now. For fantasy themed figures that are great in table top roleplaying games there is nothing more legit.

Sweet, but I don't have the funds for it now. i actually heard about it from the Paizo newsletter (company behind Pathfinder. I hope they get enough to mass produce them.
Speaking of D&D who else plays?

I never really cared for the whole miniature bit I always found it just as fun without them.

Not really into miniatures or D&D for that matter, but this seems like a fairly amazing deal and is pretty cool, so I pledged a bit.

I was really into D&D a few years back, we had a lot of miniatures. Most of our miniatures were for Dragonlance though

Even though I really haven't played a lot of D&D, those miniatures look really, really good.

I never understood why D&D seemed to shift focus to miniatures in 4e; I haven't really played since 3e's heyday (2002-2003ish), but the game seems to have really encourage or require miniatures.

Miniatures make certain things in the game work smoother so that's one of the reasons why they seem to be almost required to play.
I don't mind the minis so much as I do the power and fortune cards.
I forgot to mention but there is a nice site for a virtual tabletop (in case you cant meet in person) at http://app.roll20.net/

Havent played in a while because half of our group is away at college at the moment, but i play 4e when i do play. Its really on the DM to make 4e interesting, ive played with bad DMs who basically make it just like a board game where you go from fight to fight and theres not a decent story, and ive played it with good DMs who make it entertaining as hell. The fighting using the miniatures is incredibly fun, and that mixed with good roleplay between the fights makes it really fun... Im pretty sure they discontinued the official miniatures though, we ended up buying a bunch of pathfinder miniatures.
