hard drive troubles
0
Starting about 3 to 4 weeks ago my laptops hard drive has been seemingly at random spinning up to levels that cause the whole computer to shake. so far I havent been able to find anythign wrong with the hard drive and for the year I had it prior to this it never had anything like this happen. if anyone knows what might be causing this too happen or knows a good program to check for problems it would be appreciated.

The entries you're really looking for are reallocated sector count, current pending sector count and uncorrectable sector count. The first two show that the hard-drive is getting old/damaged... though if you only have a couple (>10) the drive may be good for quite a while. If these counts start to rise, backup all critical data ASAP. If the last count is rising the drive's definitely on its last leg.
