Haruki Murakami

So, his latest book, 1Q84, has recently been translated into English. I work at a bookstore, so I'm curious to know if anyone reads books aside from manga.
I'm relatively new to his works and I find myself baffled by the stories, yet for some reason, I continue reading through to the end. Any thoughts on his many volumes (or, even better, people who can help me understand what is even going on in the novels?!)?
Cheers!

Been some time since I read him and I enjoyed all his works so far (except the documentary about zarin attack). Sometimes mixed readings with enigma songs, it was interesting... I'd call his work (or experience from it) - exceeding the boundaries of common sense, or something. The circumstances he used (and epithets describing 'em) in those stories were always unordinary, yet his charecters took it almost unperturbed or natural, like another possible occurrence, which usually left me kind of "wtf?"-kish.
Well, that's how I saw it, at least. Nice to know he's still writing, with all that jazz and stuff. Though I probably woun't read him anymore.
Anyways, welcome to fakku ^_^

Yes, I definitely agree with that..."exceeding the boundaries of common sense". That seems to be an accurate description. I'm about a hundred pages into 1Q84, and I'm fascinated. I don't feel as confused as I did with his earlier works, but I can tell you that I've been surprised countless times since I've started. If you get the chance to borrow it, I hope you get to read it! And thank you for the welcome!

Haruki Murakami is def one of my favourite authors though I haven't actually read anything from him since he published After Dark to be honest! Norwegian Wood was what made me think, yes me likes. He kinda leaves me thinking.. wth just happened. Enjoy 1Q84, I need to get my hands on that soon! I'm new to Fakku too, might post on the Meet and Greet thingy.
