Hats off

I have been by myself for a while now, about two years. I really just stopped being social and receded into my hovel for day after day of Fakku and Xbox. Now, I have realized after so long that I need to get out there again but....It has been a while and I'm not used to people after so long alone. So now I am asking you fellow Fakku users (those who remember what people are and what the light of day looks like) how do YOU do it? I mean, how do you find new people. I am 18 (as of Jan 10) so bars are out of the question. Other than that How would I meet new people without making a fool of myself running around in public yelling "Will you be my fwiend?"

Talk to people in your neightborhood that you know. a geat way to meet new people is at the park, community center , school, work, etc. try living in newyork if you think its hard over there.

If you have a special field of intrests, those maybe a ticket for getting to know others. A social gatherings around interests such as cons, trade shows and the like may help you to find likeminded people. Even displaying your interests in your clothing (lol, fakku! shirt) or some other way may spark of a discussion.
Other thing is to get a regular in library or some small restaurant or café. Starting a discussion with a stranger is often difficult because we are unsure of our position, and being familiar with the surroundings may help with that, and make us more sure of ourselves.

If you can, join a club or sport team. That is a great way of making friends with same hobby as you got.

for those who are completely isolated, or have been. a good start would be telling said person how to get out and find said socail events.

Buy a frisbee then go to the park. Trust me, when people see a guy with a frisbee by himself they'll join. Oh they'll join....

If your in school join an organiztion. If you have a job eat lunch with your co-workers. It is not hard to go out and just talk to people you know.

School leads to clubs, teams and what not.
Work although a lot of the time people from work will be more acquaintances than anything, not people you generally hang around unless its like like a minimum wage job or something then that's different.
Community Center, I went volunteering and met my first girlfriend there. And a guy who also goes to my university and we became friends like that too.
Also, to help you on your quest, try to reconnect with old friends through the internet and talk. Keep your spirits up and what not.

Any kind of hobby will do. From there you get friends, from there you get called to parties and so on.
