Well, there's a lot going on here that I don't know (which Linux OS you are using, the version of wine, the exact error message you are recieving, etc.), but I will try to help you as much as I can. The first thing you should know is that not everything CAN run in wine. That is why I prefer to run my windows programs in a virtual machine, but that is outside the scope of this conversation.
Firstly, which Windows version is your VN compatible with? Is wine set to emulate that OS? Change the windows version in wine configuration and see if that helps (it got MS office working for me).
Do you have Winetricks installed? If so, then try using it to automatically install some extra windows DLLs and components that are not included by default. You can learn more about winetricks here:

However, I cant really tell you what needs to be obtained for your specific purposes.
