Are you using a USB hub?

I dunno. I think not, since it's built in the computer.

I'd love to take a picture of where I stick in my external hard drive, but my sister is a super-bitch, so she won't let me borrow the camera

is the usb cord plug in the computer or is it on this type of thing

if the pic is some like it remove the cord off the hub and plug into the port of the actual box/computer's usb port. if it still doesn't function it could be a bad cord or you hard drive need fixing.

Naw, it's not that type. I plug in my Hard Drive directly to the computer

The USB controller in your computer (probably on your motherboard) is likely also a USB hub. As the case may be, it is possible that some internal component has become damaged.

On my hard drive? or my computer?

The motherboard is a main component in your computer.

Try reinstalling the USB drivers before you go off buying another mobo.
Sometimes Windows corrupts drivers when stuff gets installed and what not.

I think my problem is in the External Hard Drive, not my computer. Because any other USB works fine with my computer.

But I let my friend borrow my Hard Drive, yet it still didn't work at their computer.

does it even power up... there should be a led light on the thing, when you plug it in does it light up, or does it sound weird when the hard drive spins

Naw, it powers up and there's no weird sound when it spins...

maybe the problem's in the USB cord that I use to connect the hard drive to the computer??

Or just get another enclosure and transplant the hard drive yourself, unless you got warranty on the prebuilt external hdd.

A USB-hub is like a tree, and the USB-ports are the branches. You can have many branches on another branch, but only one tree. But thats not the topic now.

How much mA does your external hard drive need? Do you have other power-hungry devices on USB-ports? Do you have old/exotic devices on your USB-ports? Do you have a driver for your external hard drive?

Try unplugging all USB-devices apart from the hard drive, reinstall the hard disc-drivers, reinstall the usb-drivers. And everything else has already been mentioned.

Another thing you might check is what version of usb are you using Most are 2.0 but some older stuff still has 1.1
I have in a drawer a power supply that came with my Ext. hard drive enclosure
It is a 5v PS and there may be a receptacle on your enclosure for that. If you didn't get one (or threw it away) they are cheap. I think Radio shack sells them and I know they are on ebay

Tachyon makes a good point. If you think of a USB port like an electrical outlet
the USB has just so much capacity. Just like an outlet in your house
You cannot just add USb's without regard to the capacity and some devices use more power than other
Just like putting one of those Outlet extenders on a plug and putting outlet extenders on that You may have 20 outlets but the capacity of that plug is still 20 amps. My electrician friends tell me horror stories about people that do Christmas lights with extender upon extender and burn down the house Or at least cause a serious fire

The USB on your motherboard may be close to max

The other possibility is the person you lent the HDD to broke it

I understand perfectly how it feels when one's external hard disk fails. Thankfully, I had the support of my fellow forum members back then, although I still paid money for the recovery program.

Anyway, getting back on topic, there are two simple solutions which you could try to adopt at this point in time:

1) Change the USB cable. It may be faulty and this happens if the cable is used for a prolonged period... or so I think.

2) Change the casing of your hard disk, like what Spectre257 has suggested. Sometimes, the problem does not lie with the hard disk, but rather the enclosure.
