"I have a tendency to to have a higher inflection at the end of a statement?"
I was talking with a friend of mine that lives in Australia where upspeak is also common. We talked about people who speak with us from other countries often find the habit of Upspeaking, particularly where the inflection is posed as a question.
I never thought I did it that much, but apparently I do because a handful of people I've spoken with over Skype from other countries have mentioned that I have a tendency to do this.
I know I picked up the habit from my half-sister. It doesn't seem like it is a common dialect in the Midwest, at least not in Indiana. However, she went to Wisconsin for college and I'm going to guess it is somewhat common there because she brought the habit back with her. I was only a young boy when she went to college so a lot of my mannerisms came from her just as much as my parents. That's right! I blame her!
Anyone else have this annoying habit? Or even better are you a person who is annoyed by people who use inflections in odd ways, particularly if you are from outside of the United States or Australia?

I'm an Australian, but I don't have this particular vocal trait. I'm not annoyed by it either, you can always differentiate between an upwards inflection and a question if you bother to actually listen.

The speach habit that bugs me is when people affect an accent. i went to school with a kid whose mother talked in a somewhat snooty way, then later i found out she was born and raised localy. i also knew a (white)girl who grew up in a mostly hispanic area, and when ever she talked about where she was from, she got an accent that sounded like puerto rican from a B movie. she didn't even speak spanish.

Kind of Important
A ray of Tsunlight.
I'm usually pretty monotonous, so I don't do it personally.
Although I have heard people do it, and it usually throws me off for a second or two. Especially where I live in PA. There is literally a separate dialect from the rest of the country. (No, really...Wiki)
Took me awhile to get used to it, although I refuse to speak like they do around here. I'm too much of a grammar Nazi for that.

There actually is a Michigan accent.
OT: I'm not bothered by accents at all. My own accent is weird, or so I've been told. Example, I pronounce "dot com" as "daht cahm".

I use it on purpose as a form of sarcasm, turning regular statements into questions for humor sake.
