Hitchhiking
Have you ever hitchhiked?
0
For reasons that can’t be explained I lack any form of transportation, so if I want to ever get any where I have to hitchhike. Its awesome it some ways because you sometimes meet realy cool people. But it can be scary as hell when some creepy guy pulls up in an unmarked van and tells you to get in the back (shudders from the memory -_- )
So anyway, my question is
Have you ever hitchhiked before and do you have any interesting stories about it?

No, I have never hitchhiked before. I would love to try at least once, but nah, I'll pass on that. Seems scary and dangerous.

I feel like the golden age of it is over. Plus it's illegal in most places.
Lastly, being female I'd worry for my safety, as awesome as free travel would be. -3-

I, for one, have not had to hitchhike, fortunately.
An older friend of mine actually told me that the days of hitchhiking have/should have come to an end in the 70s, what-not with the crazy crazies we have out there in the world, seemingly increasingly

I've never hitchhiked before and I will never do it. I had a horrible experience with a stranger in a car where I was nearly raped so it's impossible for me to trust another stranger again. >.>

I've never done it before, but I once stuck out my thumbs while joking around with some friends and someone actually pulled over. The guy looked creepy and we had no real place to go so we said no thank you.

I did on multiple occasions, it was pretty fun. At some point one white psychopath stopped for me. Hell, I did not move one bit from where I was.

I always feel tempted to help someone out when I see someone. But I get an instant image of me dead after the first thought of picking someone up.
I've been picked up off the side of the road before when I was real little. My mom had a shitty car that would break down every so often and we'd have to walk to the nearest gas station to call from a pay phone (before cell phones were a huge thing)
Every time someone would say too they hesitated but because she was with me they decided to help out. Though even today I would be too afraid to. I'd be afraid people were waiting in trees or grass to ambush and hurt me.
It's people like that who make it difficult to trust helping someone because they end up getting hurt for trying to be kind.

Wouldn't mind but I'm a little scared of getting picked up by the wrong person. Though the people you meet along your journey definitely make is a much more enjoyable experience.

I've seen some pretty funky looking guys near highway entrance ramps throwing out the thumb. Never know if something may be wrong with them and suddenly attack you in mid-conversation while the car is in motion.
However, there are also a ton of lunatics who own automobiles ready to pick up hitchers and do stuff to them.
I don't take chances either way.
