How can I clear my bad credit history

I've been using a PAYG phone for almost 2 years and a half and I've decided that it's time to get a new phone. BUT, when I went down to get a contract, the retailer refused my debit card as I have bad credit history.

Are there any ways that I can clear my credit history? My old phone probably won't last much longer and I don't really have enough cash for another PAYG phone.

you have to pay more than the minimum amount each month on your repayments and you shouldn't apply for anymore credit until you have done this for about a year.

Well the thing is I'm using a debit card and I never applied for any kind of credit before.

well them thats mean u never had a credit before in what you need is to star making ur credit.

I'd be careful though some of these companies have dirty tricks to get you into debt. I've known plenty of people that have tried to cancel their contracts when they could cancel it and instead of canceling it they paused it they think it's canceled because they are told it's canceled and they don't make any demands for payments but it turns out that the monthly payments are adding up and they are waiting for it to get big enough to drop it on you. They hide behind their call centers making it impossible to correct any mistakes.

I've heard that bad credit disappears after 7 years.

Pay up, remove the credit card contract or what you call it, and never trust the bank ever again with their credits.

He's after a phone on a plan, and they are telling him he doesn't have any credit history... So he needs to get some before he can apply for a phone... which is kinda retarded.

Another reason why I'm staying with prepaid. aside from the fact I don't text many people, nor call them.

But my advice .. don't start yourself with credit .. it's a trap.

True that... but, a plan phone is handy if you call people a lot. Unless my job required it, or I required it, I wouldn't get a plan. I have a home line for that now.
