How dose one abandon the allure of childhood ?

How dose one abandon the allure of always acting and being like a child when it is his and her time to grow up ? Is there any advice that can be given to help them get over such an important mental herdel ?
I myself have decided to do a little bit more soul searching so that I can grow up and be a more responsable and smarter adult, however many fears of not making the bar or failling and being considered a kid has brought any growth or improvmeant to a stagnating halt. From looking towards people for advice to defeat my demons and personal insecurites to figrutivly and mentaly trying to defeat them myself and solve my problems through sheer willpower and imagination. This may literally be the last time I do something like this on some online fourm but I am sought of at a lost as to what I should do. I know there have been remarkable late bloomers in history but a last they had the drive to reach there highest potinal, but it sems I have nothing of the sought.
To sum all of these feelings inside me up it can be said that I am a caterpillar traped in a chyrisalis waiting for the day it matures so that it can go out in the world as a full fledged butterfly in all it's beauty and glory. So when if any will this time come ? I am 20 as of now.

People mature at different rates. It's all about life experience. Just because you are older than someone does not mean necessarily that you have more life experience. Childhood is about naivete and as we grow older and mature, we learn things about life that changes our views.

Ignoring some of the spelling errors in this thread.
Anyway, people learn to become adults through experience and guidance from their elders or seniors. Of course, you have to know how to make the right decisions in going through life so you could grow wiser and and more mature.

Thanks for looking over the spelling mistakes. Thats something I will diffntly work on,um with all of the stupid threads I have posted and mistakes that I have done in my life do you really think there is a better me (using the anology of the caterpillar ) be a better me just waiting to mature fully and burst out of his coccon ?
I know this may seem silly but these two videos have taught me alot about life when I was younger and I wounder if they would have any relvance at this stage of my life now.

That awkward moment when, at first glance, you think is a pedophillia thread.
But yeah life experiences help you mature, although it doesn't hurt to revisit memory lane once in a while.

Keeping up with literature as well would be good too I suppose.

You don't magically "let go". You can still love a lot of the same things.
Just more maturely, and perhaps (sadly) less often.

What does 'acting like a child' mean in this context? Maturity is hard to define, and some things such as thrill-seeking or spontanious nature may just be a part of your temperament. That doesn't necessarily mean you are acting like child, or that it has to stop. If nothing is broken, no need to fix it.
'Adult' seems to hold some special meaning to some people, a transformation from catterpillar to butterfly just like you said. But being a certain age doesn't make you immune to being stupid, irrational or spontaneous.
I remember a friend of mine from high school, who had lived on her own since she was 16. She was well behaved, responsible and had good grades. Had a cat, too. When she turned 18 she once told me that she didn't feel anywhere near ready to accept the responsibilities of turning into an adult and I was like, bitch please, if you aren't mature then I don't know who is.

You misspelled does at least twice. It's probably more and you probably messed up other words, but after that second "dose" I just stopped.

Don't worry. Unless you're a millionaire, life will kick your ass soon enough, and then it's mature or end up on the streets/trailer park.

By acting like a child I mean still going about commiting childish antics and stuff. Plus I have scaring on my brain that makes learning espcially math to be more specfic hard and everyone thinks that I'm stupid in my family and calls me retarded or dose something indirectly that makes me feel stupid.
I'm not naive or anything and I know that some people will come to certain ways of thinking from being brought up by rascist parents or the like.Yet in the past couple of years I have met people who have stated that I am unintellgent even though I was not given time to explain my situation wich includes a premature birth and scarring of the brain. On top of that I am African american and in a junior class of mine in High school called Ap economics I had to basically answer a question about cities with in a set area and what the prime city was or something to that effect. I was going to answer that but becaues of low confidance I didnt feel like answering until finally this girl said the answer that i didnt say. Before that however this ass basically stated out lowed that black people are dumb and all this other shit.It really pissed me of and it had me wonder why the fuck do we as a socity no specias put up with shit like this ?
I'll post parts of what has happened in my life you all can get a better grasp of where I'm coming from.
