How to play an .amv file type?

So I was ripping "Bukatsu e Ikou! Sono 1" by Yabusame and encountered this video file type. It didn't render in MPC-HC even after messing around in MPC-HC's internal filters and FFDShow's codecs. It did not render in mplayer2 or VLC (ugh) either. Searching the net hasn't turned up much of value, so I figured this is as good as place as any to ask for assistance.

I think the real question is, why were you ripping into that format? Or was it originally just sorta there?

go to cnet.com and search for .amv player
you will get mediaplayer classic pack and only works with mediaplayer classic (included)

It was just there when I ripped it from an .xp3 file. The only thread I could find on the net that mentioned the .amv file type inserted into a Kirikiri2 game didn't answer how to go about playing or converting it.

Edit:
Apparently, the filetype uses a plugin called "AlphaMovie.dll". It doesn't seem to be a Kirikiri2-specific thing.
