It's very unlikely you actually, legitimately screwed the pooch. You can most probably come back from this, you just need to tell us the details.

Having an Adrenaline rush while under stress does that. But if you take time out to calm down and just talk things over (which apparently you already have) then you did the right thing.

Kinda wish everyone had the common sense to do that.
