Let's get nostalgic

Anyhow, in the request forums someone asked for the source of an image that immediately reminded me of MUGEN. 0.001 secs later google told me I was right. That took me back. MUGEN and RPG Maker were things I used to mess around with quite a bit back in the day. I tried making one game in each both went unfinished but were a fun ride nonetheless. I also used to download several games made in both by other people and play it all the time. At one point it kind of replaced any console or computer games I played for a while. Looking for sprites and creating a story, specially for RPG Maker used to bring me endless hours of self entertainment.
I remember there was a time they used to be extremely popular, in an internet underground world kind of way. I am a huge RPG nerd and finding out that I could make my own was akin to discovering masturbation. Specially the 16 bit kind, that is still to this day my favorite kind. Even with its limited capabilities, at least at the time I haven't been following it ever since 2001 maybe, it still made for lots of fun.
Is there anything, not limited to gaming or computer stuff, from your past that brings back that nostalgic feeling? I had kinda forgotten about that whole period in my life.

Camping. I grew up camping outdoors with friends and family going to several different places, but I haven't gone camping for a few years. When I think of camping, I think about how when I was little when my family went to a lake called Timothy Lake. We'd go fishing and hiking all around the lake, then go out in a little motorboat and rode around the lake. Good times I remember from my childhood.

Nostalgia, eh?
Aside from the typical nostalgia brought forth by classic tv shows and cartoons,
things that also give me nostalgia include my ps1 games, my yugioh deck, my beyblades, etc.
I was a loner for much of my childhood, so a lot of my fondest memories come from good times with my toys/hobbies.

Climbing, or to be more specific climbing building. When I first started school. I became friends with the troublemaker - and soon we became the troublemakers. Causing chaos and mayhem everywhere, or so we'd like to believe. But in reality we were just a bunch of punks being annoying and somethings even bullying people. I don't regret bullying people. However I am not proud of it either.
FukReturning to topic. Quite often when we were together (no homo), we would climb on top of a building - and "sunbath", well we were more or less just chilling but that's not important. The asphalt alike school rooftop was one of the best places to be on. We would often go up there and just - chill until the break was over. A lot of teachers were complaining on us, begging us to come down before we hurt ourselves. We just said Fuck you, and continued climbing upwards.
The feeling you get when you're 30 maybe even 40 meters above ground and you know, you'll fall if you make any miscalculation with your feet work. It's gives you a small dose of adrenaline. Just laying on the sun warmed roof (Note: I said asphalt alike. On sunny days, the roof is hot as fuck) with a gentle breeze hitting you're face.

I want to remember the good memories, but some bad ones formed along with the good... Anyways, "GaGa".
Before it was a name of a untalented pop star, It was a 10x10-foot octagon, and a tennis ball,
You would cup your hand and slap the ball and other people in the "pit", if the ball hit their foot they were out, if you scooped it and it went out of the pit, that person was out; but the round kept going.
Each round had 8 or so people in it... It was chaos in a pit.

I had a very strangely militaristic [Wasn't allowed to openly watch anime, especially pokemon because it came from 'the godless asians'] and religious upbringing, I wasn't actually allowed to 'be on the internet' until my mother moved in with her boyfriend when I was 11. I never actually played a 'video game' until I was 13.
Which was six and a half years ago, so I don't have any 'dinky retro gaming' memories. My first experience with a game was Runescape, but I don't really think back on Runescape fondly.
When I turned 14, I got my own WoW account. There are fond memories aplenty there. Which sucks, because I can never go back.

Whenever I hear older gaming music, it reminds me of this:
It was my favourite game, and whenever I started it up, I'd listen to the intro music for ages. It was awesome :D
Also, remembering back to playing final fantasy VII, and getting all nostalgic over the events of that. I love it with a passion.
Also, any older game I had, that I don't have now pre-much.
As for non gaming related:
Fresh water lakes remind me of my childhood growing up at our ski-club, where we'd go out water skiing every few hours or so. It was great fun. Haven't been there for a few years now though.
As sad as it is, driving along the route of my ex's house, I sometimes go on autopilot, and nearly drive there... It brings back memories, some good, some bad. Depends on my mood, etc.
Lots of others I can't think of currently

@GiantBeardedFace: I never went camping myself, but I used to go to a school trip right around this time to a cottage in the woods. It was very fun, we played games at night under the starry sky, we sang songs in front of a bonfire, we swam in a lake, 'twas fun. I also used to go to the beach with my grandparents and fish, I once got my finger caught on a hook while doing so. I went lake fishing with my father a couple of times, but it was catch and release, I had more fun catching something to eat tbh.
@Luffyiscool: Care to elaborate on which shows and/or games? Not all of us are from the same country and/or age.
@Ryssen: When you say climbing you mean you mean literally going up the building by its side like if it were a mountain? Or just going up the stairs/elevator?
I used to be a troublemaker too. When you are young you think what you do is much more important that it actually is. Me and my friends used to run around school during class pulling pranks on people and sometimes accidentally breaking stuff. We all thought it was more important than it actually was. As an adult I now know it was just a nuisance. But it was fun times and I think every kid should go through it.
Sunbathing was fun, but I did it on grass. My aunt used to live in the countryside and whenever I went there I slept on her garden under the sun.
@Medzy: I never heard of that game. I don't quite get the rules either.
As far as bad memories goes I have a few. My childhood friend had brain cancer when I was in middle-school. He was hospitalized or home bedridden for about 3 years. When he died I felt horrible. It was the first time that I can remember that I really felt the pain of someone you love dying.
@Lollikittie: Godless Asians? Are your parents Vietnam War veterans?
My childhood wasn't strict. Our limitation was money. I was never poor, but we never had an easy year also. My first game console was a SNES and it remained so until I was able to afford a PSOne, yeap you heard it PSOne. I doubt anyone besides me has that thing. Fun times though. I had more fun with the games for the first PlayStation than any of the following consoles combined.
When MMO's became popular I was too old for them. I was on my going out to clubs and/or drinking at bars time of life. Maybe because of it to this day I can't find them fun.

The smell of creosote.
The fact that it reminds me of the distinctive pungent odour of warm sand brings me back to one particular memory in my childhood, where I was walking with a couple of my friends to a girl's house and knocking for her, but her parents told us she was in the garden so we let ourselves in. I even still remember her name; Billie. She had a sandpit, and one day I could smell creosote on the fence which I thought was sand and coming from the sandpit. Memory's hazy after that.
Otherwise my childhood was a pretty happy one. Had my first kiss and first boner (a phase where we pretended to be a couple living in a house and sleeping in the same bed, hence the boner) at 8 years old with a girl I'm still in occasional contact with. She moved away, unfortunately. Had such a crush on her back in the dayand we had this love/hate thing going on. But now she has a boyfriend.
A lot of my friends moved away come to think of it.

- Paul, who first taught me about masturbation. Even showed me first-hand how to do it and got me to as well. Not something I'm proud of.
- Johnathan and Nicolas; brothers who had nothing in common. Johnathon was obsessed with the Daleks and Nicolas was into Barbies
- Scott and Adele - Brother and sister who had a milf for a mum. I didn't like Scott for no reason at all, and Adele I thought was a'ight.
- And Rae, a girl I occasionally hung out with. In school she told people we once went out and I got confronted about it by some of the sluttier girls in my class about it. I don't know what she said but since then everybody thinks there's sexual tension between us because we're apparently exes of some kind. I guess I wouldn't say no if she offered, but what a bullshit. While it lasted she was fun to hang around with.

Got Star Wars Battlefront 1, 2, and Republic Commando last Friday. I also saw some kids playing with playdoh and using it to make armor for their legos and bionicles.

Thats all I can pretty much say. like somebody else said "I'm a loner" I had one friend in elementary school.1st grade we stopped talking. went through elementary with no friends after that. middle school met my BEST FRIEND IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. we'd hang out play video games and have good times. when ever we hang out now we still have as much fun as we did back then.
I get nostalgia whenever I see a ford bronco. I drove one of those beasts for my first vehicle. loved it and still love the Bronco model to this day.
Most of my friends have moved away due to collage
Ethan - Best bro in the world (if we where any closer we'd be butt fucking.)
Eric - weird but an ok guy (bought a laptop from him and it was loaded with gay porn, found out he was gay, didn't surprise me in the least.)
Duncan - big guy but a ton of fun to be around
Not a huge list of friends. But these are the ones I keep in touch with.
the playstation 1 and 2 start up chimes
First looked up porn when I was 12 on our windows 98. almost got caught multiple time fapping because the damn thing wouldn't close windows fast enough
also learned how to erase the browser history afew months later.

My grandma just moved to a new house. The wood floors reminded me of the ones in my old house. I remember that one time a mouse got into the house and mom and dad were chasing it around with brooms like crazy people while I nonchalantly at my pp&j sandwich at the table.
Sometime when I hear a pop song on the radio, I gets flashbacks of high school and I remember what songs were popular back then. All my schools (elementary, middle, and high school) have been torn down and built new buildings. It's kinda sad at times because I remember where my locker was or what classes I went to but know I can't visit those building anymore. I also remember how fucking awkward high school was with all the stupid things I used to worry about back then, I just laugh at it now though.

The Metal Gear Solid series make me nostalgic. Played it when I was 7 and it was the first game I completed/beaten. I witnessed Snake getting older as more sequels spawned, from when he was young to being an old man.
Also, Yes songs make me nostalgic. My father used to play them a lot in his van while sending me and my bro to school every morning when I was a wee lil kid.
That, and Cardcaptor Sakura's OP among other things. I have too much to list.

When I eat at my mother's house. Reminds of of when everything was simple and I had no resonsibility. I'm still young, but I guess I grew up quickly. I don't often have time to think about how much I appreciate how much was done for me as a child, and even now.

Spoiler:
I didn't know this, but Carly McKillip voiced Sakura on the English Dub 12 years ago, so she was about 11. This is apparently what she looks like nowadays;
Spoiler:
When the series aired here it was about 2001-2002ish. Carly's voice made me want to bang Sakura. [size=8]Kinda still do.[/h]

<.< I've always pretty much been doing the same things. Just that when i was little, internet and the like were a luxury, so i had to hard-hunt gaming, anime and ero content..... aah. Saying that, and reading myself what i just wrote, old social networks local to my country, chrono trigger, Love Hina and True Love makes me nostalgic. Good ol' days.
