Mac Users

What do you guys think about them? Do you find some annoying and too purist to the point where they hate Windows and everything that's not apple? I own a MacBook pro and a Mac Pro but I do not show it off and such or say that Mac is better than Windows, (I use Windows almost equally as I use Mac). And I've grown to like Linux also because of school projects I have to do. I really don't like the majority lurking in MacRumors that get overexcited about anything that's apple related (Ex. iPhones being taken to the Space Shuttle). Would like to hear the opinions of mac users and non mac users also.

Subjectivity and fanboyism.
Well said.
The way I see it:
Windows: Application monopoly, use it for my games and programming stuff.
Mac: I use it for design apps and Xcode.
Linux: You can customize the hell out of it and looks 100x better than Windows or Mac. Better eye candy and you can do some heavy stuff here also.

I have a MacBook Air, an iMac, and every iPhone + iPad ever made. Anything I say to will probably be biased, but if you want my take on Mac users and Windows users, check out the posts I made regarding them.

I dual boot windows and linux because i like to play games and VNs with windows, but if i need to program or do work i use linux. Mac is just an expensive computer for specialized tasks. Since i don't do much audio or video work i don't need a mac. Yet most people et a mac because they are "cool". I just use what meets my needs.

By the way, does anyone think that the Mac users who sit down at Starbucks, try to act cool, and pretend to write is a stereotype? I've only see a few, kinda annoyed me once because you can easily tell the guy wasn't doing anything at all.

What is even better is when they buy them because they "don't get viruses". No system is completely secure contrary to popular belief but it is not hard to avoid viruses and other malicious code with a few easy precautions.

MacDefender virus, it hit quite some macs a few months ago. The reason why macs don't get as many viruses is because the money isn't there and the majority of computer users are using windows which means more damage can be done there. If mac OS had a higher percentage of users, there will be more viruses around. Same thing with Linux. I've used Windows my whole lifetime and never gotten anything big in viruses. It's all about taking care of your computer and what sites you visit and such.

I finally met someone who i can have an adult conversation with.
And on topic, many people just want computers handed to them and they don't want to know how to do anything, they just want it to be the Internet box or to play their games for them. People just don't understand the vast world of computers (and related technology)

That's right. If people don't understand even a bit in computing then obviously they would have the most problems. I didn't buy an 8 core computer with lots of RAM just to use it as an internet box. I learned so much in two years taking IT classes and still don't know as much, you will never stop learning anything computer related as it is evolving faster than we can catch up to it.

Awesome! I got a CCNA certification and know some programming from two years of high school IT classes. Still waiting to take college entrance exams at the beginning of next year. I will be going for Computer Science also and Business Administration.

I used Mac for close to two years in my psych lab, and now I have to use a Mac again, because I have to. I currently use the studio's Mac Pro and my roomy's Macbook (which she never uses since she prefers PC, idk why she even has a Mac, to be honest). Teh bf and I just jointly ordered a new Macbook pro.
That said, I fucking HATE Mac. It doesn't play nice with anything but other Apple products, which is fine if you mostly use macs, but not so good if you have a mishmash of devices. The interface annoys me as well. I wish to god that I didn't have to use one, but I do a lot of audio work now, and Logic is THE standard in audio editing...and only runs on Mac. Cue me swearing here.
I will admit, though, that this is a personal preference, much like how some people hate cilantro while other people like it. Macs do have good things going for them, but I just don't like 'em, not at all.

The picture should be understood metaforically, not by just appearence. For example the linux view of themself is of a OS without limits.
