Norin Sisters is a crazy deck, lol. I've never played against it, but I've seen it in action. The Norin interactions look super annoying, lol.
When Bitterblossom was unbanned, I figured a Green version with Goyf would eventually come out of it. Goyf just seems to make everything better, lol (except Twin, TarmoTwin still sounds like downgraded Twin to me).
Did you have Rest in Peace in the board for Zombies? It sounds like that deck straight up does nothing with that in play.
Oooooh, UB Control? I've actually wanted to try that for a while, but never really felt motivated enough to actually build a list. Do you remember what was in it?
Yeah, Gifts does that. They just tutor for all the good stuff and make the game into solitaire sometimes.
He was doing something like T1 Norin - T2 Genesis Chamber - T3 Sisters and gaining like 8 life a turn... even an enginexplosives on the main deck wouldn't be able to stop that much pressure.
My stance on green and black is that, as long as I can't afford Goyf and Bob, I simply won't run those colors. >: I refuse to dunk so much money on those cards only to have another option to play, when I can just build a million other decks (read: UWR variants).
I didn't have RiP, but I did have Relic of Progenitus-- I just didn't draw it. Graveyard-heavy decks like that are fringe at best and siding in RiP would also mean siding out my Snapcasters, which would hurt my power curve too much.
The list for UB Control.. he had a 3/3 split of Seize and Inquisition, and a maindeck Persecute (!). He was running Extirpate, and the general Esper Teachings deck shell replacing all the white cards with more Damnation, both Zeniths, and even Brain Maggot. The amount of disruption and card draw was unreal, and he did a really good job keeping the board clean. I saw his side with Hurkyl's Recall and Swan Song to deal with Blood Moon and Scapeshift.

Derp, yup, I forgot about Snapcaster, lol. Yeah, Relic is better.
Seems like an interesting build, that UB deck.Might take a leaf out of his book.
Unrelated note: Anyone see Shouta Yasooka's UB Tezzeret List? It looks SUPER sweet, like all his decks do, lol.

Lol, I'm super anal about sorting by collector's number within sets, if I buy a box. If it's random cards, it's still in a particular order: By color, and within those colors, by type (creature, enchant, etc), and within types, by mana cost. xP

Thoughts on moving from going from 3-block sets, to 2-block sets?

I thought it was just going to ruin Standard more, since there'd be less cards to work with, and therefore, would stagnate quicker.
However, if there are three blocks per Standard, and each block brings different stuff, that actually might help diversify it.
I feel as though it might be a change for the better, but we'll have to see. All I know is that it'll probably be easy to make Standard better than what it currently is, lol, considering how AWFUL it is now.

Two words: Fetches reprints.Oh. My. Fucking. God.
DUUUUUUUUUUDE, that's great!! I needed fetches for Modern. I know it's allied colored fetches, but oh my good lordy, that opens up a lot of decks too. No need for awkward off–color fetches in allied colored decks!

So. Much. Hype. Grixis fully playable. <3
Dropped some paper tonight at the local store. We got a big Modern event 2 weeks from now with the first place taking a box of Khans as prize, so we're gonna be doing some list grinding.
I benched Geist for a while and decided to play a little more passively, despite not being completely my style, I want to adjust:
Match 1 vs. Mono-U Robots
-Game 1 I didn't had a Snare for Ensoul Artifact, so he grinded my creatures out and I didn't have enough lifegain or a Path. Game 2 I Snared the Ensoul and landed an early Kataki: his mono-U had no way to take him off the field so I was the one doing the grinding. Game 3 he emptied a double Master of Etherium hand into a Wrath and I landed a lonely Clique followed by 3 continuous draw step Angel blinks. 1-0
Match 2 vs. Mono-W Hatebears
-Game 1 we went 1-for-1 for a long time as he was stuck on one land for like 4 turns but the 2 landers were Leonin Arbiter, Grand Abolisher and Thalia: they all met bolts and snares and I went Colonnade ftw. Game 2 was more of the same, slightly faster.
Match 3 vs. 8-Rack
-God I never played against this matchup so I had no idea what to do... I lost completely. I made a very fatal mistake this time: I didn't notice that he hadn't sideboarded anything, so I kept some creature hate in fear of an Obliterator or Mutavault, but they were dead cards in my hand when I tried to stabilize... and then Wrench Mind. Ugh.
I'll be playing this list on Untap.in for a while. My username is Nels.

With the spoilers that are out just now, I'm so excited for Standard again. This stuff is going to be the shit. Fetchlands, decent mechanics, and a nice balance between powerful spells and creatures. Most likely going to play the Azban though because all the cards within those colors as of right now interest me, that or the Sultai or Temur.

Maybe even try Grixis, though, an enemy colored shard might be more productive.
Regardless, Finally a more fun standard. So sick of today's Standard, rofl.

So people have been talking about this card and how it's not mythic viable. I do agree with them to a point, but at the same time, I do think this card does have very good redeeming qualities. It comes out for the most part with presenting 6 power and 8 toughness on the board as well as having decent evasion and a cute effect to boot.
I do think this card can really shine in something constructed like Azban reanimator, especially with Whip and Endless Obedience. There are plenty of ways to throw it in the grave and then use it's effect to maximize the card's value.
Even in limited, 2 creatures out on the board that have good evasion and have enough power and toughness to get though, especially in limited formats, will be a force to be reckoned with.
Thoughts?

It's definitely mythic to me. It's two-for-one at worst, and if you untap with it, it seems like it can get absurd. I can imagine scenarios in a beatdown deck where it'd be a close game, and if you land one of these, the race swings completely in your favor. It's actually a card I'm really looking forward to.

Hopefully when I get to Japan, I'll start working on this deck :
RUG Scapeshift
Going to put GW Hatebears on the back-burner due to Noble Heirarch being god-awfully expensive.

My thoughts on Roc is the fact that it doesn't die to Anger of the Gods, which is common in Standard. Broodmate Dragon saw plenty of play back in the Jund days and the effect is similar, but those were 4/4s and guaranteed doubles as opposed to this 3/4 with a condition...
I'm going to keep the same list when I play this weekend. But based on the spoilers so far, I should really invest in Standard and my mono-green fantasies.
