Metalcore
What's your opinion on breakdowns?

Any metalcore fans here at Fakku?
If you don't know Metalcore it's basically a mixture of Metal and punk with a lot of emphasis on breakdowns. Good example of Metalcore:
Recently got into the genre a few months ago, at the moment I'm liking many of the bands but some of them are really hit or miss. At the moment my favorite bands would be Parkway Drive, Like Moths to Flames, The Ghost Inside, A Day to Remember, and the Architects. What bands are you guys into?

I know a few here and there.
Killswitch Engage: Really good band. I would suggest the albums End Of A Heartache, World Ablaze (live album), and As Daylight Dies. They do have another one called Killswitch Engage (self-titled album) but I wasn't too thrilled like I was with the other albums. The singer (Howard Jones) left the band which gave Jesse (first singer for KSE) a chance to come back with the band and make another album Disarm The Descent. Not a bad album so you might want to check that out too.
All That Remains: There are some similarities with this band and KSE probably because one of the guitarist for KSE produces ATR albums. For this band The Fall Of Ideals would be the first album you may want to check out immediately . They have two albums before TFOI but they aren't as good as that one (imho). The next album after that is Overcome witch is OK in some ways but since I listened to Fall Of Ideals first I'm kind of a stuck with that album more than any of their new(er) stuff. For We Are Many is good too but I'm not sure on their latest album A War You Cannot Win.
Lamb Of God: I don't have any albums by them but their music isn't bad. All I have (singles) are Ruin(*), As The Palaces Burn, Laid To The Rest(*), Now You've Got Something To Die For, Walk With Me In Hell, Redneck(*), Pathetic, Grace(*), Broken Hands(*). Eventually I will get their albums. I want to recommend As The Palaces Burn, Ashes Of The Wake, Sacrament, and Wrath but I can't because I haven't any of them yet. So until them that is what I would recommend song wise.
As I Lay Dying: I don't know too much of this band. Reason why I'm recommending them because my friend is really into them. Though I have to inform you, they are a Christian metal band. Only songs I know is An Ocean Between Us and Confined. And just for shits and giggles, the singer got arrested for suspicion of hiring a hit man to kill his wife. (lol)
And speaking of Parkway Drive, my friend (whose into As I Lay Dying) went to see them last year. He didn't stay long due to some personal reasons so he wasn't sure what some of the songs were. I have been thinking of giving them a chance, just don't know which album to start with. Any suggestions other than the video you linked?
P.S. There's probably more bands I forgot to mention. I'll post more another time.

Spoiler:
Well it really depends on what you life if you're wondering on what to start with.
Their first album Killing with a Smile is a really powerful loud classic PWD album that got many fans into the band. Personally I'm not a big fan of the album other than a few songs. The second album Horizons is what I started with and honestly when I first heard it, I wasn't hooked. But it really began to grow on me with time and a few more listens. The lyrics and powerful melodies began to really take hold and I was a fan. The third PWD album Deep Blue was a favorite for many but a bit of a miss for me although it still has some fantastic songs inside. And their latest album Atlas really got me from the start and I love pretty much every song in that album. But Atlas took a subtly slower darker route than their past albums which in my opinion was the right decision.
In the end it's really what you like so what I would suggest would be listen to a few songs from an album and see what you like. Then from there pick your starting album and give it a go.
Notable songs from each album:
Killing with a smile:
- Romance is Dead
- Smoke em if you got em
- Guns for Show, Knives for Pro
Horizons:
- Carrion
- Boneyards
- Idols and Anchors
Deep Blue:
- Wreckage
- Sleepwalker
- Karma
Atlas:
- Everything
- Dark Days
- The River
- Wild Eyes
- Sleight of Hand

Honestly I dislike a lot of bands in this genre, but I absolutely love Parkay Drive, especially their first album. I had almost forgotten about this band and I was looking for new music to listen to, so this is great thanks for reminding me of PWD!
And speaking of All That Remains, they were the band that first got me into modern metal. Back then they only had 2 albums I think, but they've apparently released 3 more since I last listened to them. But I can recommend their first 2 albums for sure, even though they're very different from each other. Personally I seem to gravitate mainly towards their first album, really like that sound.
I'm sorry I don't have much to add to the thread, I just felt like expressing my support for these 2 bands.
