Money + Jail?
-1
Ok so i have question.
If a person is in jail and they have a monthly check will they still get it even if they are in jail?
Or does the check stop and they come out broke?
Im asking because i was on a trip with my dad and the police finally found him and now he is serving a couple of years in jail.
He has a monthly check ($1500) that comes in on the 1st of every month.
So before all this we made a back up plan that if they did find him that i was in charge of everything.
So i did my part and everything is in the clear, the only down side i gave up my job to so spend time with him and now i cant get my job back, nor can i find one because of the weather and its close to December. Sorry it has always been like this.
Anyways im asking will the money still be coming or will it stop because he is in jail?
If it still comes through the i can get all my bills paided and not worry about anything and focus on finding a job and then send him back all he belonging when he gets out.
He said i could use the card to the way i need to but i cant if it stops coming though.
Someone clear this up for me so i dont have to doubt and i can sleep at night know i can put food on the table for my family.
Thanks for your time.

Yeah. If they have a business, it can still make money. They just can't run one from within prison by themselves, I think (could be wrong... laws may have changed).

If there's one thing I've always wondered, if someone goes to jail or they go away on a trip and they live alone in a flat or something, do their bills pile up or can they be frozen?

Well He left me with his Chase Card.
So its Debit. All his monthly money get put on his card.
Are you sure it will still transfer over?
Well the good thing is he doesnt have bills, He is retired but in jail now.
He get the income of the $1500 from his recent job that he retired from..if that helps.
But we already talked about this (The back Plan) and all im wondering is that if he is in jail will the money still continue to come through or will it stop since he is in jail? Thats what im worried about.
Hell if i could bond him out i would. But he is on a no bond so im shit out of luck and in charge of his steady income.
I have bills that need to be paided and i could easily pay them if i get the money coming from his bank we share the same name the only difference is that im his son and he is the (Roman Numeral) 1st and im the (Roman Numeral) 3rd.

Might have to set up a direct deposit deal, and give someone else(you, his wife, etc.) access. could require a lawyer.

I think so, too. Given that the hired labor are still willing to work for someone on jail?
But I too, could be wrong.

I'm just asking this because I am curious. Pardon me if it's rude, but how did your dad end up in jail? What did he do?

I know the business thing is true.
People in jail can do a bit of labor and make some money, however its going to be little to nothing.
I would consider filing for unemployment for the time being while you find some legal or financial advisor to tell you what can be done about your situations.

Ok the story is my dad is a control freak he HAS to have it his way and if he doesnt not get it, well then fists fly, on anyone including his own gf, So his gf called the cops on him and he was charged with domestic violence.
So he ran off and was on the road 24/7 going from state to state and asked me if i wanted to go, i was up for it since i have not seen him in almost 14 years, so after like 5 weeks of staying with him all was going amazing, i learned new things and had an amazing time with him until the girl that called the cops on him stalked and tracked him down in Florida (Were we was staying for the night) and she told dad to come pick her up at the airport, ok so no problem there well afer we had a couple of beers and after the party shit started to heat up, you see his gf like to also be in control so when things start to heat up like that shit hits the fan, and yea he ended up on top of here and was chocking her so one of the neighbors saw them and got the cops call on him, so the cops came they did a back ground check on him and found out he had a warrant out for his arrest, so he is not in Illinois serving his time and they said he might serve 1-6 years in jail.
