Music and you!

So, do you think the type of music you listen to affects who you are? Weather it be anywhere from Death metal to rap. Do you think the type of music around you affects any part of your being ? The way you talk, think, or just overall attitude? Can music really have such a positive or negative affect on you?

This post really doesn't seem long or "serious" enough to classify to be in this discussion, but I'll bite.

I listen to anything good. My main forte is in rock and metal of all kinds, but I'll listen to even rap, EDM, classical, jazz, blues and all that. Some genres, I just won't touch, like pop, R&B and most country.

As for my personality... I'm about average. Kinda quiet, but extroverted at times. See any relation between that and my tastes? Because I sure don't.

I'm a classic rock, modern rock, and heavy metal listener. I belive it can influence your atitude and personality.

I do indeed believe it's possible for music to influence someone. If it can change the speed and ability at which I can do something, then it's likely that it can do more than that.

However, it can occasionally have the opposite effect of what it should. Classical music in a place that I deem unsafe or disturbing only makes it more disturbing.

I don't think listening music affects who you are, but your selection reflects who you are. I cannot listen to pop-rap-partylife music because that's not who I am; I listen to some up-beat rock songs and awesome tunes from various games and shows.

Everything but country. My mother spent years smothering me with nothing but country. Then my father introduced me to both classical and rock music. It was if a floodgate had been opened.

I agree with this statement. It really is more of a reflection of your character/personality. I like several different genres of music because of how different they are and how they fit different moods.

Ahh , Sorry about posting in the wrong section, it's my 2nd or 3rd mistake xD . Guess I'll never learn x.x. Anyways , by selection do you mean, what you choose to fit your personality ?

I think they mean that their musical tasts can reflect their personalty.
NOT, that they choose their music based on their personality or to fit a certain personality they think they have.
