Musicians on Fakku

I really wanted to see if there are any musicians, and I want to hear their stories on how they became involved in music. Personally I'm an amatuer pianist and I play for my own enjoyment. I don't care about skill level, just as long as you appreciate the instrument/music that you play. (≧ワ≦)ノ

I really don't like talking about myself, but if I'm asking for someone's stories then I might as well post my own. I first starting listening to Japanese music when I found Vocaloid. (I know some people really don't like it, but the thought that you can create and upload songs onto nico nico for other people to enjoy is the main appeal to me.) I never really was all that interested in playing an instrument until I was expelled and at my new school they enrolled me in a music class. That's when I started to play piano, after that it took off and I was busy learning as much as I could.

In the present I play songs from anime and VNs when I have strong feelings for the story. Learning/transcribing a piece from my favorite stories is how I show my love towards them. I also check the Vocaloid and "I played" rankings on Nico Nico Douga (ニコニコ動画). You can find a lot of great covers and original songs on there so I strongly recommend checking it out. I like osamuraisan (おさむらいさん) and Marasy's (まらしぃ) covers that they upload.

On a final note, if you do not play an instrument, you should try. Even if you aren't all that skilled at playing, the expression and beauty that comes from music is definitely something that is worth investing your life into.

This thread should cover my story.

Cool I love guitars especially classical guitars. I own an old custom full classical guitar but I'm not very good at playing it. ( ̄ー ̄)

I don't really know if it counts, but I've made quite of a few mash-ups, and I've made a some DJ friendly songs...
I don't want to share any of them, I don't like sharing work that I like for a single person.

Maybe I'll post one or two...

Story thyme: I just picked up a DJ controller one day and then went crazy with it.
How I got my first show was actually kind of derpy, me and my brother were eating in a shopping mall when we over hear somebody talking about not having a DJ for their club in 2 days.
And then my brother just leans over and says "If you need a DJ, *points at me* that guy", this was back when my social anxiety was more prominent, so I was mad at him at first...

But I completely nailed the show, the dude wanted me to be a regular DJ, but I declinded, I just wanted to get away from everyone and breakdown in a corner (social anxiety >.>).
Overall I'm glad my brother suggested that I do the show, it really helped me get used to being in the limelight.

So that's about it..

As a personal pianist I only play for myself because I'm afraid of tripping up because of my anxiety while I'm playing and making a bad impression, sometimes it feels kind of contradictory though because music is for other people to enjoy too, but everyone hates me ahaha so I guess it doesn't matter.

But I love you. =3
In all honesty, from what little I've seen from you on Fakku, you aren't annoying or anything. So stop downplaying yourself.

It's because I'm actually very deviant and most of society looks down upon me for being a sick bastard. Ahahaha

I get laughed and teased at all the time because I love cyclopes, I love disfigured girls, I love anime and manga, I have the strangest way of thinking, and people get genuinely disgusted when they see what I consider to be beautiful art.

People commenting on you being a little awkward shouldn't get you down, or get to your head.

Hahaha this topic has gone so far away from the what it was intended for but I'm still enjoying it. Yeah for sure that disfigured and "mutated" girls are really beloved if they are cute in a mental sense. I find such things as that to be more endearing than repulsive. I think the best part of those kinds of girls is that their "flaws" might alienate them and people will avoid them and something about loving/being loved by those kind of girls makes it feel more meaningful. I'm not sure if that makes all that much sense but being the most important person in someone's life feels really good, well I think it would anyways, I've never had a relationship before because I distance myself very far from other people. I'm very interested in talking about what you like that is considered "wierd" to society. I think it's very interesting to hear about that.

Of course, music is music. Except dubstep, that's just screeches with hardly any definable notes (depends)

-raises hand-

I dabble in guitar, bass, piano, drums, and flute...

I'm not particularly -great- at any of those though. XD

I used to play, Clarinet, Violin, Viola, Double Bass, and Piano. I haven't played any of them in about 3 years and now I know nothing about it.

I have no real experience with the piano but I'm pretty good with my computer keyboard and software synthesizers.

I produce electronic music as a hobby, here's one of the tracks I'm working on, the first fifty seconds anyways, I haven't got the right sound for the chorus yet so I've cut it off to save you some ear damage. Overall it still needs a lot of work, some snares, high hats and maybe a piano or another synth to fill in the higher registers along with some fades, modulation etc. It's unmastered and the levels are low so you'll need to turn the volume up a bit.

I played the drum set and various other percussion instruments during my childhood.

I saw a guy playing some military rhythms on a snare drum when I was at an open house somewhere, when I was very young, and I instantly became hooked.

So I started taking drum lessons at the age of 8 or something. I found that I had an extremely easy time learning to play them, and my teacher was honestly astonished with my rapid learning progress. I always had a great sense of rhythm, so percussions were perfect for me.

So I played the drums, and took lessons, for about 7-8 years. I was starting to have a harder and harder time learning the "advanced" stuff, my main problem was with speed.

But most importantly it just felt pointless, and this is what really made it for me. All attempts at forming some shitty band with my friends had failed, and I knew there couldn't possibly be any future for me in playing the drums (nor did I wish for one). Percussion isn't like the guitar or the piano, with which you can play alone and enjoy it.

So I stopped, it just felt like a waste of time. I've tried learning the piano a few times but haven't really bothered to give it enough time.

NEXUS Since 2010
I play bass guitar and I'm in a pop punk band. I was into playing music for years, mostly on piano though. I tried guitar when I was around 16 but I couldn't really grasp it and then when I was 20 I bought a bass and instantly took a liking to it.
When it comes to playing music I've always liked doing my own thing. Although I've done a few covers over the years.

Video of a show I recently played.

Spoiler:

After playing bass for a while I somehow learned to play the guitar finally even though I couldn't when I was 16. This is an original. Everything I played except for the drum beat which I added using Mixcraft.
Spoiler:

Another little thing I made that's worth a quick listen.

I been playing guitar just around 7/8 years I believe. So far, from what I can tell, I'm completely in love with playing it. I really enjoy doing covers of Video games OST and anything that catches my interest. My dream is to write video game soundtracks and film scores. I actually play in a Glory Metal band and we have recently just finished our first album.

During middle school, I live in a what was once a pretty bad neighborhood and went to an awful school that seem more like Prison then anything else. not to mention I live In Riverdale, Maryland, which is literally right next door to D.C and not the Good part.
Lol I would constantly have to be on guard just so I wouldn't be the next one to be bullied or jumped by kids with almost full mustaches. I hated them oh so much. I hated that school and neighborhood.

The only thing that I looked forward to after school was hanging out with my uncle and listening to him play the guitar. One day after getting back from school, I find out that my uncle decided he was going to move to Wisconsin. He left me his acoustic guitar and ever since then my guitar gently weeps.

sorry I didn't mean for it to drag on.
