Jazz is by far one of the most dearest of things to me. I myself always find that I really need to go back to the real black jazz of 50's & 60's to feel it like it's supposed to be felt. I know the works of Coltrane, Davis, Tyner, Hutcherson, all them cats, but since I try to be deep into the crates I'm always listening to stuff like Roy Haynes, Sun Ra, Andrew Hill, Dorothy Ashby, Stanley Cowell's early 70's output and all the classic Blue Note and Impulse! releases. Too many to name! When you reach the fusion/smooth stuff of like '74 it gets too clean for me, but even a pocket of artists from a year frame like that is really a wealth of greats to dig through.
