Converters are an absolute pain in the ass, I remember on one occasion spending about three hours searching for one with no good result. 99% of them simply do not work, and worst of all they want you to buy the broken piece of shit.
HOWEVER in the end I pirated Total Video Converter and that seems to be doing the trick flawlessly.

doremisoft's AVI to MP3 converter worked flawlessly for me, and looking at their site I noticed they have an FLV to MP3 converter as well.
