Need Help with "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows"
0
Today I purchased the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows, and I am what you could call a noob... For whatever reason, be it me or the game's evil natured purposes, I can't get it to work on Call of Duty 4. I have the actual controller and not a homemade one, so I'm not sure if I should map it or something. Please help me sort all this out soon! -Hippo

You play FPS games with a mouse and keyboard.I'm trying to be a little bit more professional here, if you don't mind.

Did it come with a driver disk. To test your Xbox 360 Wired Controller on your computer, follow these steps:
1. On your computer, click Start, type joy.cpl, and then press ENTER.
2. Select Xbox 360 Controller, and then click Properties.
3. Test your Xbox 360 Wired Controller by pressing a button, pulling a trigger, or moving a stick on the controller.
Refer to your game documentation for information about how to configure the controller for a specific game.

It doesn't say anything though in the instruction manual for changing it to a gamepad or other equipment..

Wireless Xbox 360 controllers seem to have this problem when connect to a computer.
Let me ask a few questions :
1 - Do you have the Wireless Adapter that goes to the PC that wirelessly connects to the Xbox 360 controller?
Because you said wireless, it will only work if you have the PC wireless adapter. You can not plug in the plug-and-play cord into the PC. The controller won't register to the computer.
2 - When you go to Start>Control Panel>Printers and Other Hardware>Game Controllers , does the controller show up in the controllers section?
If yes, double click on the controller and test it out and see if it registers all movement and buttons.
If not, it's not registering that you have a computer. I recommend to download the controller software off of the Mircosoft website and see if that works.
Hope this helps.
